I concur. It is the scattershot way that they remove them that is the most puzzling.

They should offer me a job as a moderator. I have lots of free time and I am "Unfair And Imbalanced (TM)."

Well, my sending a PM has back fired. Now my 7 posts about median household incomes have been removed and the thread has been closed. Questioning authority, even politely, proves dangerous again; I could be next for having had the hubris to ask "why?"

What’s hilarious is they reopened it and left that back and forth with Mr/Ms/Mrs Well Done

They probably just locked it while they were removing selected posts deemed to be off topic while allowing other off topic posts to remain. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

Keep to the straight and narrow path and stay laser focused on topic; many of our fellow forum members have their mouse poised over that "report post" icon.

I guess I better say something now about the future of home video lest I invite the wrath of the thread police. I think in the future movies will come in pill form like vitamins do now. You swallow the pill that contains the movie that you want to see and the movie just plays inside your head. If it is a more cerebral and thought provoking film it will come in the form of a Flintstones chewable vitamin so that you can really sink your teeth into the content. Obviously, shitty movies will come in the form of a suppository.

You threatened everyone FIVE times in rapid succession right after he coined the name.

Just yesterday you said:

"Reporting people to mods is pathetic."

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=16740

and on July 23:

" I’m not one for wanting to see people banned or suspended. I have never sent a message to mods asking for a thread to be looked at or a member to be removed. And.............I never will."

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=16407

Yet, you had no problem nicknaming me after an actual genocidal war criminal for poking fun at your goofy predictions. The use of sarcasm and ethnic cleansing having so much in common after all.

"I’m not going to put up with derogatory nicknames in my time on this board."

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=11758

You won't stand for nicknames given to you, see the five links above, but you have no problem assigning them to others. Hypocrite.
None of that backs your argument. I said I wouldn’t put up with it. I didn't say I would report it and I didn’t/haven’t. I simply meant I would call you lot by such names and see if you were all fine with it.

It seems you weren’t, because that’s the third time you have spat the dummy out about that nickname. Again, when things are tipped over, some of you guys don’t like it. Meanwhile, it’s fine for you and Donster to make references to my mental health on a regular basis.

Anyway, back on topic. It’s old ground.

Well, I only prefer to save some of my fine work as even I recognize that much of what I write here is disposable banter.

Hey guys, Sound & Vision has an Article on the "Coming Boom in Home Theater":

https://www.soundandvision.com/conte...m-home-theater

I agree with this, people love their HT to watch their favorite Movies and TV Shows. The latest TV Models make it so much easier to access any Content. If you are set up properly everything is at your finger tips, you don't have to move a muscle!

At least it is a sane prediction; we don't get much of that in this thread. It is not a future that I plan to embrace. I would not be so eager to have everything voice activated like this author seems to want.

Voice activated devices are just another name for listening devices. I do not want my home to be filled with internet connected eaves dropping microphones. These devices have already been proven to listen in on private conversations and to sometimes share them with unintended recipients. They have proven to be hackable as well as they have very poor security protecting them. No thanks; I don't want electronic bugs in my home.

I don't want increased, or entire, dependence upon the internet for my entertainment, either. Putting all of your eggs in one internet required basket is a bad idea. You will be placing yourself at the complete mercy of your ISP and how is that not a recipe for disaster? The cost to access content via the internet will only get more expensive unlike physical media which has a one time cost to purchase and requires no increasingly pricey internet service to use. Finally, if you do not possess your content, you have no control over it. No amount of convenience can overcome this fact.

No, it's akin to making editorial judgements. I wish the mods would be far more aggressive at removing redundant and irrelevant posts. The number of times that certain posters repeat exactly the same arguments is absurd, IMO and that's aside from the off-topic digressions.

Maybe some of you have all the time in the world, but when I come to a site and thread, I'd prefer it be concise so I can get in and get out quickly.

I will spare you at least one redundancy and not rehash the subject of censorship. However, what one person considers to be redundant and irrelevant another may find to be original and salient. It is a subjective call in either case and a post should not just be removed because someone was bored by it. You get to decide what is of value to you, but not for anyone else.

In a long thread, such as this one with nearly 17,000 posts, people join in at different points; they certainly are not going to read such a massive thread from the very beginning. For them, the comments that they read may be new and therefore quite relevant. Members routinely ask questions that have already been answered and they should be permitted to do so even if you or I find them to be tiresome. How many times do people post these fascinating questions: Does it come with a slip cover? Has your copy from such and such vendor shipped yet? Is the included blu-ray remastered? Where should I redeem my code? Often these questions were answered already just a page or two back, but so what?

People argue endlessly over whether a movie is good or bad, whether 4K is worth it, whether 8K is worth it, whether HDR is crayons, whether or not it is the end of the world as we know it, and they will always do so. Skip over anything that makes your eyes glaze over and move onto a post that interests you. I can determine if a post interests me in a matter of seconds and I bet you can, too.

Further, over time you get to know whether or not you want to read a specific member's comments. It is not hard to skip the posts from people whose remarks historically have disappointed you. If their posts are unbearably annoying, you can place them on ignore. No one makes you read anything that you do not want to read.

These forums are informal social media, not a college debate that follows a prescribed structure and time allocation. People with varying degrees of knowledge, different perspectives, and diverse personalities post here and they should be allowed to express themselves without undue censorship, or "editing" if you prefer, provided they remain civil. No one here is obligated to entertain you.

After all, who exactly would you have determine which posts have merit? The mods are human, too, and they are each their own person; are you sure that you would agree with every decision made by each one of them regarding post worthiness? A closer look at your posting history would likely reveal some redundancy, irrelevancy, and topic digression, too, at least from someone's point of view. Your posts are no more, and no less, worthy of inclusion here than are those of any of us.

Which is quite funny because you repeated the exact same message every time Blu-ray had a good week in the Home Media Sales thread imo.
