Default reference quality?

I see a lot of reviews on here mention that certain movies look and sound so good they are or are near "reference quality" video and audio. What exactly does it mean to be "reference quality"?

Reference quality meaning the best of the best. The best Blu-ray has to offer.

Exactly. It's the audio and video quality that you judge all others by; the discs that you consider to be touchstone transfers.

reference means that an audio track or video transfer is an exact representation of the original source.

Life for instance, when you set a baseline you use that as your reference. Like when people come over to my house and I show them something I will always use the opening scene of the Dark Knight because the imax shots are absolutely reference quality.

Yeah reference quality is basically so good that if you showed it to someone you would convert them over to Blu-ray. And BACsader your screenshots of movies playing on your HDTV are amazing. It's almost like a direct screenshot on a computer. What camera did you use?

I have a Canon SD 800 IS. It is a nice camera but not an amazing camera. I just messed with the settings and used a tripod, they came out great.
