Rumor is the packaging includes an LED screen. The reason the album comes out in a month with still no preorder is apparently there is a problem with the battery in the packaging.

On the one hand, that seems too far fetched, just from the standpoint of cost, and physical media no longer selling like it used to....

BUT, on the other hand....TOOL. So...also totally possible.

CD wise, Lateralus still has my favorite packaging (and favorite iteration of their logo), but I've loved all of them.

It's weird having Tool music now available through Amazon. And, best part... lyrics!

I always liked their first two albums. Then I kinda forgot about the rest. I was listening to them last night on Pandora.

Until I see it on the shelf, I still refuse to believe it. Praying there isn’t a last minute delay.

In order to have a Aug 30 release date set, the discs would pretty much already have to be pressed and packaged at this point, just waiting to be distro'd.

Outside of whatever warehouse they're in burning down, not sure what would cause a delay.

Also, it's not like this is an album that has been "delayed" previously. They just...didn't really have any movement/took years to even get back into the studio.

There's no reason at this point to question the album coming out (other than, again, some act of god that not only destroys all physical copies, but also any and all masters and other forms of the masters.
