If it's a ceiling fixture or some other hard-to-reach place it's understandable if they seek help. My apartment has ceiling fixtures that are too high and require a step ladder so they're tough to access. I took it upon myself to change the bulb in two of the fixtures and ended up giving up on one because the cover wouldn't come off. The other cover fell off and broke after I replaced it. I'm hoping the Super doesn't notice it

Yeah that would be understandable but these tenants are whining over vanity lights in the bathroom, not much higher than the medicine cabinet and they can reach that just fine. I think they just don't want to buy the decorative round bulbs that the fixture came with, I'm simply putting in 65w eco bulbs that I found in the basement of that house if they don't like em they can replace them.

I am appalled I am lumped in with idiots. Does it really have to start in 1982? I mean seriously I do anything my father can do because he taught me and I have common sense as I also have watched him do things. I seriously don't understand why I have to lumped in with them and they can't do anything.

I feel closer to being a Gen Xer with all my cousins and my brother.

There are two new people in my building. Both walk around with perpetual smiles on their faces. I'm beginning to think it's some kind of quirk or even a mental condition. They literally have their mouths open showing teeth every time I see them. It's freaky

You sure seem like a person who can get stuff done.
So many posts here of you doing that.
You're not an idiot. I think that was a generalization. Your generation gets picked on.

around the early 90s, I kept hearing the term "generation y" for those born during/around your time. i'm a gen xer, myself. and I liked that idea of just going to the next letter..."y". but then they came up with "millennial" and it's like they went back in time to include those who should've been "gen y" people.

and I can tell you, those "millennials" born during those times (1980s) are those I trust more than a lot of the younger ones, now. like you, my dad taught how to do a lot of stuff...of which i'm forever grateful. but man, some kids today just have NO clue when it comes to things that I consider common sense and knowing how to be handy around a home/car.

so i'll consider you a "gen y", Xtempo. you seem like a good person with a good head on yer shoulders.

Yep, I'm Gen X for sure!

Generation X (or Gen X) is the demographic cohort following the baby boomers and preceding the Millennials. Demographers and researchers typically use birth years ranging from the early-to-mid 1960s to the early 1980s.

Generation Xers were children during a time of shifting societal values and as children were sometimes called the "latchkey generation", due to reduced adult supervision as children compared to previous generations, a result of increasing divorce rates and increased maternal participation in the workforce, prior to widespread availability of childcare options outside the home. In the 1990s they were sometimes characterized as slackers, cynical and disaffected.

I also resent this video. As a millennial (born after 1982), I'm extremely handy. Sadly I can relate with the tenants in the video however, as one of the bulbs in the bathroom of our old apartment blew shortly after moving in and I didn't replace it til 4yrs later when we moved out. It was never too dark in there so I just couldn't be bothered. I also would never contact our building manager to replace it either, actually the 4yrs we were there I didn't call him up once - anything that went wrong I fixed myself.

Any way I ended up replacing the bulb in our rental house last night, and of course the tenant gave me another bs laundry list to tend to. I'm starting to think they re just looking for attention at this point.

Men are expected to be handy and know how to repair anything "out of instinct". Sorry, I was born without that gene. Part of the reason I'm not handy is because my dad, who was also all thumbs, didn't teach me anything. Dads are supposed to teach their children how to fix stuff, how to drive and fix cars, etc., but that never happened with me. My dad never even learned how to drive and now he's regretting it (I think). But now, because of Youtube, anyone can learn pretty much anything. I can't fault my dad for being the way he is, though, since he likely grew up under similar circumstances. He did pretty good raising 5 kids on an average salary.

I don't get it ^

Things have fallen in place for me to go back to work early. I don't like leaving my FurBrats, but I'm not accomplishing anything while off. At least I'll make a bit more moola.

Is anyone else following the Boeing Max 8 story? I watched a documentary the other day about the launch (or, failed launch I should say) of the Boeing Dreamliner 10 years ago - that was some truly scary stuff. As retaliation for a Union strike, Boeing shifted some key operations to North Carolina (they're now based in Chicago) that employed practically anyone off the street, including dopeheads!! There was insider footage taken of random people installing electrical wiring and others talking about buying and using weed. Man, that company has a very troubled history and now comes this Max 8 disaster. Will they never learn? I'm going to be very nervous next time I get on a plane

They've been grounded here in Canada. Hopefully there's no new sales of that aircraft.

Reading about the new $45 Tool album. I just want the damn CD is all, save the extraneous BS.

Fear Inoculum is the long awaited new album from TOOL, and the band's first new album in 13 years. The album will be available digitally, and in a special Limited Edition physical package that includes a CD in a tri-fold Soft Pack Video Brochure featuring a 4" HD rechargeable screen with exclusive video footage, a USB charging cable, a 2 watt speaker and a 36 page insert book and MP3 download card.

So as everyone knows I’ve been filling out applications and it has me wondering how anyone can expect qualified candidates on shit pay and hours? I am very thankful for chain retailer getting back to me on the same day I applied, but I need more than $10 and 20 hours to justify going 30 minutes over to the next town. It reminds me of a earlier rant I had with the Target HR person. You want a qualified electronics associate, but only want to pay $13 an hour. Timmy or Tammy aren’t going to quit a job where they have seniority for part time pay
