is there a such thing as region 2? I thought it was A , B , or C.

its both

a lot of comps are trying to seperate BR from DVD by saying A, B, C but its known on many online shops as A/1, B/2+4 and C/3+5+6+7

That's wrong because Region A covers also countries from DVD Regions 2, 3 and 4.
