Default Maybe some hope for Sony (players available at launch)

On gamefaqs.com, there is the following poll:

Poll of the day
How many Playstation 3's do you think Sony will have at launch?

1) More than 2 million, they'll surprise everybody
2) 2 million, just what Sony said
3) 1.5 million, not quite meeting expectations
4) 1 million, half of what they want
5) Less than 1 million, it'll be a disaster

Most of the votes applied to number two. What do you think?

I think that less than 1M is not a disaster

Less than 100k might be a disaster... less than 1M is just really embarassing.

Zero or buggy hardware would be a real disaster.

I believe less than 1M before 31 December 2006 will constitute a "disaster".

Extremely buggy hardware will not be a disaster IF they get fixes out quickly. Slow fixes of any significant bugs could be a disaster.

#5 is fine with me.

For me, it doesn't matter because the Xbox 360 is a NO-SHOW here in Asia-Pacific. M$ is only strong in it's home market in North America. period.

In Asia, they fail. In Japan, they failed HARDCORE. In South America, just average and in Europe, they're just average as well.

Although the xbox 360 is a great console, it does have two serious flaws: 1) No backwards compatibility. The easiest thing to do is make an xbox chip and put that inside the xbox 360, however Microsoft doesn't own the rights to the chip so in order to play xbox games, you have to do it the hard way through emulation. Not every game is supported and the ones that are may not look right so you're better off not playing xbox games on the xbox 360. The other problem is that the console lacks memory cards slots so unless you use a third party device, you're out of luck. Sony is addressing both of these issues. It's possible that if Microsoft could acquire the rights, they could make a newer model of the xbox 360.

I mean Microsoft isn't a bad company. The xbox 360 is a great console. I just think that some things were rushed on the console. The only reason that Microsoft launched last year was to get a head start on both Sony and Nintendo. You know, there are millions of gamers that prefer certain consoles. I like Sony and Nintendo, but not Microsoft. Some may like just Sony. Some may like just Nintendo. Everyone has consoles that they like and don't like. Now take Sony, they will address issues with the ps3 like using your memory card and having backwards compatiblity. I think that Sony will take 1st place with the ps3 because the ps3 is like a 13 in 1 machine, not to mention that you get a freebie blu-ray player that you would otherwise have to spend $1,000 on.

I think that the high price issue is because of the fact that you can there are exclusive games on ps3 that are strickly ps3, like metal gear solid. You can't play metal gear solid on Wii or xbox 360. Also the price will do down in time. $600.00 is the launch price, but when DVD players came out, they were $1,000 and now you can get one for about the same price as a VCR.

No backwards compatibility? Oh yest it does. It's limited though. You need the HDD and a suported game.

But tell that to the 5 mill, U.S. Xbox users. They would say " Ho bra, i traded in Madden 2006 fo Xbox, an got Madden 2007 for Xbox Tree Shixty. "
