Looks like 90% of the posts in this thread is about Kristen Stewart. I first saw her in Panic Room and the only other time in Billy Lynn. I’ve never seen any Twilight films.
Anyway, sounds interesting. Not enough underwater sci-fi around. Aquaman doesn’t count. |

But, of course, as always if you dare to not like a young female actress then you get the classic "label of choice" from the peanut gallery. Blah blah blah. ![]() |

Kristen Stewart is a very good actor. I've never seen the Twighlight films as they look terrible. But she really is very good in Personal Shopper, Sils Maria and Camp X Ray. She's not bad in Adventureland too.
I'll probably watch this just for her as she's interesting to watch, even though I thought The Signal was a bit of a mess. |

Just ask [Beautiful Actress X] how many gorgeous young hopefuls there were at her first big audition, or at her last audition, or any in between. Sit down at any restaurant in LA, you've probably got a beautiful waitress, and she's probably going to auditions hoping to get her break. Yet, here she is brining you your dinner for minimum wage and tips. Meanwhile, Scarlet Johansson is getting paid a gazillion dollars for her latest Avengers movie. There are a huge number of really good looking people trying to break into the business every day. And some of them actually have some talent, just no luck. Or they are terrible at auditions. Or whatever. But the difference between 98% of your waitresses in LA and Natalie Portman isn't looks. It's talent. And drive. And determination. And work ethic. You know, all that boring stuff. ![]() What Im saying is that looks plays a tangible roll here. Tons of luck involved too - plenty of people are driven and have great work ethic and just dont get that break or catch some luck. Hence, they are waiting tables still. Many others got their "in" due to a connection in the industry or whatever. Its who ya know in Holywood. Right? ![]() |

Talent helps, but a lot of other things need to fall into place to make it in Hollywood.
I'm sure a few young ladies got ahead doing favors for Harvey Weinstein (does anyone really believe has was batting .000) Elizabeth Olsen and Elle Fanning have famous sisters (not a coincidence, Although Elizabeth is a much better actress than her sisters). Jalen Smith would be unknown if not for his parents. There are actors and actresses who seem to be very attractive but horribly cast that do make me wonder what they did for the role. It's very common on TV and somewhat rare in major movies). |

![]() So of course pretty people have an advantage. Believe me when I say that people would rather watch Canning Tatum than me. And I don't blame them. Hell, so would I! I'd rather watch Anne Hathaway than the totally sweet, nice checkout girl at my grocery store. Nothing against her, she's a nice gal. But she's no Anne Hathaway. As to having an in, of course that helps. It helps in any business, not just entertainment. But most of our stars didn't have an "in." Some of them, sure. But they still needed to show they could do the work, day in and day out. And most of the people with whom we are familiar had nothing pushing them into the limelight. They did it all themselves. And as we all know, it's not an easy business. There's a reason why drug and alcohol abuse are so common in the entertainment business. But yes, pretty people have an advantage. Surprise. |

My first thought: what The Abyss would have looked like, if Milla Jovovichs husband Paul WS Anderson had written and directed it. :P

If this was even remotely connected to the ALIEN franchise, David Giler and Walter Hill would have producing credits.
![]() Oh gawd, just noticed that it is PG-13... |
