That was me. My PS3 outputs 24p discs as 1080p24, so if Se7en is indeed progressive then why does my PS3 insist on outputting it as 1080i?

I'm gonna try the disc on another Region A player tomorrow and see what happens. As with Deuce above, people might be seeing 1080p on the copyright warning and then assume that the film itself is the same.

Wow April 7 is a huge day...Boiler Room, Trainspotting, A Man Apart and Knockaround Guys for me. Running Scared is an awesome movie, too, but I already have the Dutch HD DVD import. It looks and sounds amazing.

I tried Se7en in another deck, it's saying the disc is 1080i60. I don't know what else to say.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Alliance are the single worst comany working in DVD and Blu-ray distribution. The fact that they can't just wait for the American distributors to release a product and then release that same product with an Alliance logo as they have done in the past is annoying and I hope it doesn't mean we in Canada won't be seeing the American versions in our stores.

For catalogue titles, Lionsgate is THE worst. You're getting good catalogue Alliance titles in hi-def, many of which will probably not be released in the US any time soon. They're only messed up a couple of releases IMO(Seven, Hostage, Seed of Chucky), since I don't really care about missing subtitles.

I don't think so...they remaster the audio in lossless Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD MA. For many of their titles, they also remastered them in 1080p. Not an easy feat by any means.

If you want bad companies check out First Look or Magnolia. Their DVDs are top notch but their BDs reek of rush job.

Don't belive me...

Paris Je'Taime has no English only subtitles, its English SDH only. The two disc DVD that sells for around $10 (US) has more extras. On top of that, instead of a new 640k lossy DD track as a back up, its a 448k DD track that is taken directly from the DVD.

Chocolate has no English only subtitles, again English SDH only. The only extra is a less than 10 minute featurette. The Thai two-disc set is cheaper and has more extras with BETTER PICTURE QUALITY!

Compare that to titles like DOA and Sin City that sport beautiful 1080p picture and incredible lossless audio.

I wouldn't go that far.

I own Nightmare On Elm Street, Hostage,The Constant Gardener, Sin City & From Dusk Till Dawn. These are ALL very good transfers with good audio. I don't care much abouyt xtras so I'm happy with these cheap purchases

All the Alliance Blu-rays I have are very good. I welcome them and their prices.

I'm not sure If i've said this here, but I think most of the Alliance Blu-Rays are great.

I am not one for special features. Back when I was buying DVD's I'd normally settle for the single-disc versions because I'll never watch them ( Of course, there are a few exceptions including Star Wars, Transformers ). So these releases from Alliance fit my needs. Plus, being what, $19 at Futureshop is a great bargin!

Now, I'm just throwing this out here but, I'll use Good Will Hunting as an example. Is the video reference material? No. Will it ever be? No. Now, Disney is brining out Good Will Hunting in the US, so we can expect a Digital Copy ( sorry, Disney File ), as well as extra's. Plus a price of what? $30+? Screw that, imo.

Now, not all of the releases are great picture wise. Nightmare on Elm Street was hit pretty hard with the DNR bat, but it still looks nice. And besides, we've had the release here since October? When is the US release?

Plus, now don't quote me as I don't have the entire Alliance catalog here, but don't they all have DTS-HD MA / TrueHD ? Can't complain about that.

Now yes, Alliance does !@#$ up with some of their releases. Seven being 1080i, Hostage not having the proper OAR, so most of us here will not buy these... but to 90% of the market? They probably don't care as it's just a movie and don't know the Director's intent.

yeah the good will hunting blu-ray (which I own) is 1080i. This bugs me and I may have to replace it with the u.s. version for this very reason. I ordered it because I was under the impression that it was a misprint on the back, but I found out that it is indeed 1080i.

This is a huge dissapointment for me. Se7en is my favorite movie and I am looking forward to getting it on Blu, but no special features/extras and bad quality? Why? I think this movie will sell huge, and I am honestly baffled that we haven't gotten a great US release of this movie. I will definitely have to continue my wait and hope that by the summer they wise up and release a great blu-ray version of Se7en in the US. I hate waiting...

Good Will Hunting IS 1080p. The cover art had a misprint. To those who canceled orders because of this, for shame... lol
