This is what IMDb lists as the two ARs:

1.85 : 1 (some scenes)
2.35 : 1 (some scenes)

Not sure which one is the "main" AR.
What I’m saying, is the 1.85 would be in the 2.35 aspect ratio. Not two completely different aspect ratios.

My December hopes is Prince of The City, Straight Time, Raise the Red Lantern, and a Wong Kar Wai director box Set or an Akira Kurosawa Director Box Set!

Raise the Red Lantern would make a great addition. I absolutely love that film. Have you heard something about them acquiring the rights? I know it received a non-English friendly release overseas.

I am thrilled to hear that Criterion is releasing The Story Of Temple Drake. If ever there was a film that deserved the deluxe treatment, this is it. Re-issues of All About Eve and The Silence Of The Lambs and Midnight Cowboy are well and good, but I’m relieved that this label is still in the search-and-rescue business, restoring important obscure titles to their rightful place in cinema history and in people’s libraries.

And I do hope they go with original poster art for the cover.

If that is the case, then, as a huge fan of Miriam Hopkins, I really happy about that!

The Silence of the Lambs needed a reissue badly and it's a guaranteed seller for Criterion that surely helps get more obscure films. That said I'm ecstatic that Criterion is releasing The Story of Temple Drake and hopefully they use the original art.

A release of The Cameraman or Pandora's Box would be a great title for December. It be nice if Criterion would release A Shop Around the Corner as that would be the perfect December title and badly needs to be on BluRay.

I’m surprised as I ordered This Is England (both the film and the tv series box set) from Amazon UK about six months ago and they shipped to the U.S. no problem. I just checked their website and you’re correct that it doesn’t ship to the U.S. currently. I’m wondering if someone bought the rights to the film. It would make a good criterion release but I doubt they’d be interested. The tv series box set, however, is available at the link below. It picks up where the film ends and is great value for money. I would recommend seeing the film first however as it contains some critical plot points that are resolved in the series. I highly recommend both the film and the series. All the best finding a blu ray of the film. I’m sure it will become available somewhere in the near future.

The DVD copy that came with the Blu-Ray release of You've Got Mail is quite good. But I agree that a Blu-Ray version would be fantastic.

Silly me, for some strange reason, I thought you guys were talking about this movie:

[Show spoiler]

The Shop on Main Street, also known as The Shop on the High Street

By the way, that movie could use a Criterion release as well.

As I've mentioned before, there's a lot of untapped gold in Pre-Code titles out there. Warners has some of them as MOD DVDs in their Archives collection but only a few have made it to Blu-ray. I don't know how willing they'd be to let other labels have them. In the meantime, it'd be nice if Criterion could upgrade Trouble in Paradise. It's a gem.

Baby Face with Barbara Stanwyck is on The Criterion Channel and it's pretty wild. Wish it would get the full-blown Criterion Blu-ray treatment.

For a while Baby Faceseemed like it would be the rumored Pre-Code release from Criterion. I don't know if it's still in play or if The Story of Temple Drake is that title. BF is wild and it's a chance to see Theresa Harris' character of Chico on almost equal footing with Stanwyck's Lily. Rare for an African American actor/actress. Also fun seeing a very young John Wayne as one of Stanwyck's stepping stones.
