Check out the two page disney ad on 4-5, with a full page devoted to BD!
They run it every week

Remember that even at 9500 copies on HD, that's still more copies than 2 or 3top 10 titles would sell normally

I wonder how the replacements for defective HD-DVD combos are counted?

Yep. Those numbers are still disappointing.

Also notice that all, and I mean ALL of the "streeting this week" and "prebooking" titles are blu!

Looks like good news to me. Over 2:1 on all new common releases and with a lot more big selling exclusives on the way. 300 was 2.5:1 for the week which is also a good sign.

I thought the reason 300 sold so much on Blu was because all those gamer PS3 guys would buy it and then never buy a movie again? So all those gamer guys turned around and got Disturbia pushing it to 2:1 as well?

I think it is a mistake because right after that they list only the DVD for the Pixar shorts. Dang, I about had a heart attack.

They aren't.

These are strictly transactions that are counted. Discs you pay for at a store or online site. No freebies, no defect replacements etc

It's interesting to look at the ratio for individual titles:
300 - 71:29
Disturbia - 67:33
TMNT - 68:32

i.e. the neutral titles in the top 10 show a better ratio in favour of BD than the overall ratio of 66:34, so the reason why HD DVD is doing slightly better than the neutral movies suggest is because right now they have the stronger selling exclusives with Bourne and Hot Fuzz. As soon as we get some big hitting BD exclusives we'll be up into the 70s again.

The Since Inception figure changing reflects the fact that 300 sales represent a significant chunk of all high def discs ever sold.

No Mistake there is a posting on the blu-ray.com main page about it.

Also interesting is the opinion piece on microsoft supporting HD-DVD to encourage the format war to continue.

Lastly, the success of Blu-ray overseas is great (page 12 article), was it not just a few weeks ago when someone from Universal made a comment about the HD market being more than the US and that elsewhere in the world HD-DVD was more successful than Blu-ray?

Now, Blu-ray has moved up to a 61% since inception lead, and you call it disappointing? Tough crowd.
You're 100% on the money. The meaningful number is the SI not the weekly. No complaints there.

There's an interesting article on page 14 indicating studies show a low percentage of people are satisified with movie downloads. It looks like a lot of the responses related to illegal downloads of bad copies but it still looks like even the legal downloads aren't being received well. I hope MS is listening

64% may have been good for 4-5 months ago. From here on out anything under 70% is disappointing.

Eh, not for summer time. Now in the fall when the big releases hit, then it would be surprising not to see 70's more regularly.

Also, anyone catch the article from the editor on the second page accusing Microsoft of fueling this format war? Anyone care to photoshop this so we can send it out upon the net and get the word out?

Excellent, that means BD just broke 60% since inception.

Now to move onto 62%!
