I wonder if they'll use the stylized subtitle font that was on the CBS stream or if it'll be the generic player-generated ones like on the S1 Blu-ray.

I still find that so annoying, because there's really no reason the stylized font couldn't be retained for the player generated subs. It would take just a little more care and attention, of which I think Star Trek would be deserving.

I won't be picking up this set (just couldn't get into the show at all), but disappointing that they are breaking up the shorts like that. I really enjoyed the two shorts they are leaving off, particularly the Calypso one. Lovely little self-contained story. I guess, looking back on it now, it was a little bit spoilery for how the season ends!

There’s a reason why the “Calypso” short was very likely left off of this particular BD-set, but it’d be tough to explain why without getting deep into some major spoiler-territory for Season 2.

TrekCore thinks we'll get a Short Treks release at some point with the 4 current ones and all the new ones coming out soon too. It should be all the Short Treks I guess.

The thing about the Short Treks is, we know that one of the new batch of 6 is a Picard short, and two of them are animated, so my assumption when they were announced was that Paramount would drop the Picard one on the Picard season 1 Blu, then hold off the 3 Disco-centric ones for the Discovery season 3 home release, and the animated ones for a potential Lower Decks DVD/Blu.

With the first batch of Short Treks though, there's really nowhere else for them to go - if they're not all included here, I'm not sure what they'd be holding the other two back for. As I said, perhaps Calypso will have some season 3 tie-in after all, but even then that still leaves the Mudd one, which surely wouldn't go anywhere but the season 2 Blu. Very strange.
In reading everyone's comments about the Short Treks after reading the press release about Season Two, I'd like to think CBS will release a comprehensive Short Treks title, but the fact that they've included two that are plot specific to the season-long arc of Season Two gives me pause. That, and that hard media is a dying market as far as the studios are concerned.

I have my fingers crossed that "Calypso" will find a home on the Season Three release due to it having some narrative tie-in to the season. And it sounds like most of the upcoming six new short episodes could find a home on home video release one day. And as for the Mudd one, if there is no Short Treks stand-alone release, I'm already prepared to accept that consequence. It wouldn't fit on a Picard release and with the Discovery so far in the future, it makes no sense to see Mudd this season. But since I'm a subscriber, there's always CBS All Access to watch it on...

I have Season 1 on SteelBook so I originally hoped the same for Season 2. But I've loaned the discs out to friends, keeping my SteelBook with me so they wouldn't be responsible for damaging it, and it's kind of nuisance. LOL So now I'm sort of glad there may not be an SB.

These look great both the steelbook and the discs. I seem to see UK rating logos on the discs, I'll have a look at it on Zavvi and if not on Amazon UK, I'm sure one of these two will get it so I'll be able to import it to Spain just like I did with the season 1 steelbook.
A pitty we are not getting an UHD BD release, both seasons of Star Trek Discovery looked outstanding on 1080p with HDR on Netflix.

Agreed. I still don't understand why this show is not on 4k ... ( Too expensive obvi )

Series 2 was epic with and the 2.39:1 ratios/ anamorphic lenses a great idea !

I been hearing hard media is dying since DVD came out that was 1997, I would think by now it would be dead yet studios keep pumping titles out.

Will this one be region free? UK doesn't have their bluray up yet, but Amazon US does.

No Trek release has ever been region locked and you can be sure the U.K. release will be out in short order.

Because the 4K version is exclusive to CBS Access to encourage people to subscribe to watch it in the best quality available.

Is this show actually good? I don't have streaming to sample it but I'd possibly take a chance on buying the sets.

Keep in mind I've liked each series less as they progressed, to the point where I didn't watch "Enterprise" at all, but mostly because I can't stand Scott Bakula. I would never watch Deep Space 9 or Voyager again, they were a chore when they were running but I loved Trek so I endured.

The only series I rewatch is the original series and films, like once a year at least.
