Yeh I bet the artist was perplexed what to do since half the monster went behind the text. No easy way to do the whole monster; he was hired to make the monster glow but no way to make the whole monster glow when half is hidden behind the title. But, he should have thought outside the box a little, big glow eyes and teeth would have looked creepier than the decision the artist made IMO, and it would have been supported by the title and tagline.

I cant fault the guy too much though because every other cover he's worked on including Ator looks amazing . Just breeders was a bit of a fumble. I don't think it's terrible but I also don't think it can command the price premium of some of the other glow slips because it just doesn't work as well in the light or dark

$49 for both is fair tho - that's like $20 for breeders and $30 for GOH.

GOH I really like the glow design. I also like the PQ on the Dark Force GOH blu best out of all options available worldwide currently. Its a bit raggedy but the color, contrast and sharpness is excellent without looking dull like the Arrow release or overprocessed like the BU release. Walt's release may prove best of all in the end, but that's still a ways off and the cool grindhouse print of DF release (plus PFT and the glow cover) definitely make it worth owning to more hardcore collectors.

If the artist was perplexed he meeds to stop doing this. The monster does the work for you.

I'm betting ator looks ridiculous. Ator will look like the hulk from planet hulk.

I dunno about that if I recall from the DVD cover Ator is pretty pale so I don't think it will suffer from the GITD application in the daylight, and the preview DF posted looked pretty great, they captured all the detail.

I don't believe that's been confirmed, but even if it were it's a Multicom property. I believe Multicom's usual licensing deal requires you to use their master as source and not the original elements.

I also find it ironic when some (not you per se) complaining about upscales with improved color and contrast, at the same time have a whole library of 4k UHD titles that are 2k upscales (undisclosed by the studio on the release) with improved color and contrast. Marketing can be a powerful thing!

What is it about df that makes you either completely miss the point or put blinders on? No one has an issues with it being an upscale. The issue is he won't admit it.

I guess because I don't get why thats an issue. People don't hound the major studios nonstop to "admit it" when they put out 4k uhd releases that were obviously upscaled from a 2k master and don't list this on the box, so why do you have to hound a small business with a fraction of the money if they did something similar?

As long as the release is a significant step up from prior releases - which can include color correction, improvement in contrast, etc, - it's not any different than when a studio adds HDR to a 2k master and puts it on a 4k Blu. Source lower res than target media resolution but was improved in color/contrast from previous releases, making it a worthwhile purchase.

Comparing 2K to 4K upscales to SD to HD for Blu is apples and oranges,
but you know that. The dishonesty is what is offensive.

I noticed on Amazon it was SD as well, so it's a fair inference to make given Multicom's history of only licensing their own masters out... And probably is why some brought it up in the first place.

It's really not much of a stretch to compare the two.

If someone was staunchly against upscales and refused to buy 4k UHD discs that were upscales (which are most of them, btw), then I could understand taking a similar stance here against upscales .

But if you own a whole bunch of upscaled 4k uhd discs it's tough to make a logical argument that it's bad to buy a Blu ray due to it being an upscale, when you have already done so many times over. Especially when your upscaled 4k discs are probably bigger budget films that would benefit more from more resolution if they went back to the original elements and rerendered the sfx.

If you are going to be against upscales, fine, but at least be consistent. I personally have no issue with upscales and even have a bunch of shot on VHS movies on Blu ray.

That's the excuse Bill used for that abomination that was the Mutant BD. Thank goodness that was a Multicom one-off. BTW, Ruined, don't you post on any other threads? Why are you so hung up on CD/DF?

What's offensive babybreese is you just comin' on here to troll us everyday. Pretty fun and easy when you can hide your face behind the internet. But we got some big surprises coming up next week that's going to send some shock waves throughout the entire cult video world.

There's no such thing as First Class in travel anymore. Now it's just "More Leg Room" if you're lucky to get a seat with an actual cushion lol
