How old is too old to play video games?

Never too old. I'm 55 and play Diablo 3 religiously. The problem, as people get older, is trying to find time - what with family/spouse responsibilities, jobs, etc. I'm sure there are lots that play video games much older than I. When I retire, I hope to have more time to play video games as well as other hobbies to keep me occupied. Additionally, video games is a great way (at least for me) to relax and as a way of escapism for a short while from stress. But I also think many people lose interest for some reason as they get older. Enjoy what you like!

When I was 40, I laughed at a guy I knew who was 52 and playing. Um... I'm 62 and still run Division2, Sniper Elite, Battlefield etc however I've always been more of a single player... campaign. The multiplayer universe rarely interests me enough to join in but every now and then, depending on the game, I do it.

I stopped playing video games about five years ago and I'm 37 now. I didn't stop because I was "too old", I just stopped because I lost interest in it.

Videogames are a hobby like any other with no age limit. There are many games that rival movies for great story telling. With that being said there are dozens of generic cash grab rehashed turds for every one true gem. My first system was an Atari 2600 and then Nintendo/Sega all the way through current PS4 pro and gaming PC. I did start slowing down after age 35 and now at almost 40 I only plan on playing Cyberpunk and then I'll probably be done until the next Red Dead. Do what makes you happy!

Some things you did when you were kids, you will never outgrow when we become adults. Our childhood characteristics will remain within us until the day we die. A person's childhood is a part of the person's adult life. That's what help make us who we are. I still like Looney Tunes, and other old classic cartoons, board games, eat candy and ice cream cones, go to amusement parks, ride rollercoasters and such. We've done all of those things when we were kids. So if you still like playing videos game, don't feel guilty because you're not hurting anybody. A person could be doing other things that's a lot worse like becoming a serial killer, child molester, a rapist, drug dealer, things that can do physically and mentally harm to other people. Now if your avid gaming begins to interfere and causing you to neglect your family (or yourself), then it has become an addiction, and that's not good.

The best thing about getting older (I'm 38) is that I no longer feel embarrassed, awkward, or like I need to justify anything I like to anyone. My life is my life and I've grown past the point of giving a damn what anyone else thinks about the way I choose to spend my time, what movies I like, what kind of music I listen to, etc. You want to play games, play games. Presumably you earn your own way, who cares what anyone thinks?

I do not care whether or not anyone approves of my choices. I value opinions that I solicit, but the final decision is mine. When I am among other people, my only goals are to be considerate and not to smell bad. The former takes some effort, but the latter I got down pat.

Think I remember seeing a news story of a woman who was near 100 & plays games as a hobby.

Nintendo seems to cater to a younger youth. They are still fun games to play for me 30+ years later.

Like another poster mentioned, don’t worry about what others think. You can’t live your life like that. My family and friends used to freak out about my sex doll, but they are fine now. She is one of the family. Bloody expensive though!
