Just snagged Bottle Rocket locally for $14.99 (at a re-sale shop) I check there about once a week and hope to get lucky, and this was one of those days (got Sleeping Beauty for $12.99 there so I've been a faithful customer ever since!!!)

here's the most "recent" I have The 400 Blows pre-ordered, and I'm on the lookout for Chungking Express

The only Criterion I am interested in would be This is Spinal Tap. Any word on this being released on Blu?

It's on the way, but from MGM not Criterion. I think it was due in April but has been delayed until June apparenty.

Yeah.... I had to check inside for the booklet (it was there), and I also peeled off the sticker while I was standing looking at the rack..... had to make sure the stickers they use would come off with no residue (they did on Sleeping beauty, but it had a glossier finish to it)

I would rather pay full-price than to get a damaged version...... This only holds true with the Criterion films though, as I want them in good shape for "Collecting reasons" My other blu-rays can have broken cases etc.... and missing inserts.... and as long as they play, I don't really care.

I was pretty happy with the deal.... stopped by 2 other used shops today hoping for a miracle, but no such luck! One other one is further away, so maybe I'll call and ask them if they have Chungking Express!

Hey, did you like El Norte? What was your take? I left a review. I think the official review was way off. It was a great film, not very upbeat and seemingly realistic. The reviewer at this site glorified it. I think he is wrong.

El Norte is the only BD Criterion I'm missing right now, might pick it up this weekend, I'll give some thoughts on it when I watch it, but yhea I think of all the Criterion they reviewed they almost give 5/5 all the time on every aspect on the movies....

I haven't watched El Norte on Blu-ray yet...... and haven't watched my DVD counterpart of it (it's an old non-criterion collection edition) in a LONG time. I'll give you a review when I get a chance to check it out.

It looks like DVD Empire is currently a promotion on the first six Criterion blu-ray releases, if anyone hasn't picked them up, yet?

"$25 per title! Plus, if you buy all six in a single purchase, we’ll send you a coupon to save $5 off a prebook of Akira Kurosawa’s Ran."

Good deal..... but with amazon having many for $24.99-$26.99 it's tough for many (like me) to justify dropping $150 in one fail swoop..... fortunately I picked up 3 for $70 shipped via the trading forum.... got one for $15 + Tax, and $25 for the other...... pre-ordered The 400 Blows for $24 or so.... and just need to "Stumble" upon Chungking Express..... someone will sell it here sooner or later

And that person, good sir, would be a fool. Surely, someone's not foolish enough to sell off their copy of "Chungking Express" to you, Beta Man.

I got my copy on Blu a week ago and was very impressed with not only the transfer, but with how well the film still stands up to modern viewing tastes. I think a lot of reviewers miss the fable like fairy tale charm the film exudes, despite it being a stark and realistic film.

The Third Man will impress you even more on Blu. The picture is clearer (more clear?), but where the disc truely stands out is in audio quality. I know, it's a mono track how much better can it be?! It's incredible, you'll hear dialogue that you probably completely missed on the regular DVD copy. I know I did. The Zither music even sound better.
