Sold my Criterion BBS set a few weeks ago. Had bet on this being released when a DCP was making it's rounds a few months ago. The wording on the DCP being used was worded slightly differently then what's found in the notes of the Criterion booklet. Glad to see I bet right.

Great News!

Although I'm as of yet not the greatest fan of this film I will revisit it on UHD.

Yeah, my opinion on this movie has gone back and forth over the years, but I’m curious to give it another shot in UHD.

Really excited for this one. Easy Rider is, IMO, THE film that captures the counter culture revolution that was happening at the time.

The films laid back style is perfect for the subject material, and as someone who enjoys riding motorcycles, it’s great to see a film that features riding and isn’t a “biker gang” or exploitation movie.

Easily going to pre-order this one. Hopefully, we’ll see a steel book too.

Doesn’t surprise me since it’s a new remaster.

The restoration has been known since at least May. It was going to come out regardless of his passing.

I also don't see it being much of a difference between that and the 4K scan done by Sony and Grover Crisp for the original and Criterion blu-rays. That one was also from the 35mm Original Picture Negative and 35mm Black and White Separation Masters. There's only so much you can do.

One of the greatest road movies ever with a fantastic soundtrack.

I've seen the DCP of the new restoration and it's great. Keep in mind the mardi gras and acid trip scenes were shot in 16mm.

If I recall correctly I've seen it about 15 years ago, maybe more, and I didn't like it, but there won't be a better occasion to give it another shot than watching it on UHD, so bring it Sony!

I'll definitely be picking up the British release. Though I'll be more excited when Peter Fondas The Hired Hand in the distant future finally gets a 4K from Arrow.

My reaction being when that finally happens...
