Not sure if I'll buy it, but I have to admit this is a very cool set.

I'm beyond excited for this. I've only seen a couple of these movies via VHS rentals back in the day and remember really digging them. But viewing them via 4K restorations on Blu-ray is going to make me enjoy them tenfold. I don't care what anybody says - these movies are a ton o'fun. A spectacular announcement IMO. Thank you, VS!

Sorry about you guys in the UK who aren't region free but I'm sure you'll get your own box set at some point. They don't make expensive 4K restorations just for one region

I got a kick out of that plotline description for A New Generation. At the "beginnings" of gentrification in Skid Row L.A. in 1993 lol. Here we are in 2019 and Skid Row is still a cesspool and getting worse. They'll never be able to revamp that neighborhood with the hordes of homeless that still call that area home. It's ironic because gentrification is probably the leading cause of homelessness today.
I feel the same way. This was a jaw-dropping announcement for me, totally unexpected. And to have all four of these in 4K restorations from original negatives...it's like an October miracle.

To me, this is the original Amityville series:

The Amityville Horror
Amityville II: The Possession
Amityville 3-D
Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes
The Amityville Curse
Amityville: It's About Time
Amityville: A New Generation
Amityville: Dollhouse

Next you had the remake, and following that were some loosely connected (even looser than the films in the original series) which don't seem to fit. That just leaves Curse, but I'm happy with just having that one on UK DVD.

YES PLEASE. Slap the four discs in a single case, and sell it at Walmart for $20. That would be an easy buy for me. But blind-buying four '90s DTV sequels for $60? Shiiit. I didn't even pay that for the Scream Factory set of, you know, the real movies.

All the films after the remake are not real Amityville films, except maybe The Awakening which is pretty boring.

Of all the ones made after the remake, I consider Amityville: Awakening as an official entry.

For the couple people complaining about the price of the Blu-ray set, I imported this DVD collection from Amazon Spain just a year ago for about $20. Not sure what it’s going for now, but it is an option if you have Region Free capabilities even though the quality isn’t the best. I’ll still be keeping it because it includes Curse.

Dollhouse is missing in Spanish set.

It would have been nice if they did commentaries for the other 3 films in the VS BD set as well.

I've been debating importing the DVDs of these for a long while, pretty much since I watched the original trilogy box from Shout! a few years ago. This is an easy pre-order for me. $60 for 4 niche title is a decent price too.... much cheaper than the imports, thats for sure.

You are correct. Forgot about that as I have the German DVD of that one. The collection is locked to Region 2 also; post was updated.

Not counting the remakes or the more recent DTV entries, do the films in this set make up the majority of the better-known sequels? Someone said there were ten films in this series but I'm only interested in the ones post "3-D" and prior to "Dollhouse". I also wouldn't mind seeing a fresh restoration for the '79 original.

Four films with with 4k restorations from the 35mm OCN priced at $60 sounds pretty damn good to me. Whether you like the films themselves is subjective.

Better yet, try finding copies of all the Witchcraft movies for a decent price... that's truly terrifying and something I've been trying to do for awhile now :P

Yes. They only made 8 films prior to the 2005 remake. Scream Factory have released the first three and this set has 4, 6, 7 & 8. The only one missing is The Amityville Curse but many people dislike that one and can easily be skipped.

Amazon Prime have a bunch but there's no real order to them. They have the first 5 but then afterwards it's all a mess. I've been meaning to watch this franchise for a while, if I enjoy the first 5 on Prime, then I wouldn't mind tracking down the rest. I imagine most never made it past VHS?

I understand Lionsgate has the 5th film. If they ever revive the Vestron line maybe it'll show up on it.

I understand why some don't think this collection is a big deal, but if you went to the video store as a kid in the 90s, these films were special treats. Think of them as being on par with some of the better Children of the Corn sequels. They have that type of tone, I'd say.
