Yeah, but we'd only ever seen "single reactor" blasts in ROGUE ONE. Alderaan was the first test of "full power" mode. So... who's to say that with all the reactors firing it wouldn't pop that planet like a balloon.

I feel like series these days are basically long form feature films anyway. A series, if done well, would really give a chance to delve into the character and view many more hours of McGregor’s performance than a 2-hour film.

True, but I'd have to have Disney+ to watch it meaning it would probably not receive a disc release.

The BD of TPM might not be the best case scenario, but after looking at the comparison with the DVD, it's a godsend:

Precisely! Aside from literally a couple of shots that are a little too smeary, the presentation is outstanding! It's so colorful and vivid. I think from a design and visual standpoint, The Phantom Menace is the most accomplished Star Wars film too.

Hold your horses. It could be so much better IMHO. DNR has been used way too heavily. Some shots during the podrace give one a pretty good idea of how stunning it could potentially look.
But it certainly destroys the DVD by a long shot. It's not even a contest.

Downside, you can see the floaty CGI not properly interacting with the environment.

That was a big problem when I saw Phantom in theater. Months of build-up about how advanced CGI effects are, indiscernible from reality - and I sat there thinking "Dear Lord, this looks like a cartoon - I may as well be watching Pete the Dragon".

Now with the DNR, even the human characters sometimes look like cartoons.

The film’s cartoonish violence doesn’t help. People falling from great heights without injury (Kenobi kicked off a platform level by Maul, etc). Rubbish film on almost every level.

Not nearly as bad as Gollum in The Two Towers though.
There is plenty of seriously impressive work in TPM.

I think we're supposed to assume that's a Force thing. We don't see non-Jedi doing it.

There’s Padme’s fall in Attack, but I think that was fixed to make it more believable for the home video release - groans of pain and some extra dialogue?

I'd say he has a point. Near the very end of Two Towers, Gollum 'strangles' a tree branch. . . and it stays perfectly still. Basically advertises to the audience: hello! this character is completely weightless/virtual!
