Maybe the grade is lacking a bit more contrast idk. I understand it's a modern trend to grade a point above pure black but I feel weird about it's implementation on modern action films.

I mean look at this still kinda strikes some fear in the heart. One of the problems is the horror element is completely absent from the subsequent sequels. Which kinda gave the Terminator it's dark edge.

My problem with this movie is this comes off like a total rehash. Doesn't feel like it's reinventing the wheel like Creed or Rise of the Planet of the Apes did. Also the T-Juan Thousand feels like a lazy idea for a villian. He's basically just a T-1000 2.0.

I don't understand the compulsion to dissect a movie that hasn't come out yet, beyond what's shown in the trailers. No wonder everybody hates everything, they're never surprised any more. This thread looks like a minefield of spoilers, so I'm out.

Whether or not DARK FATE is any good, I'm still jazzed that we are getting a new Terminator movie.

I do wish the marketing was better, but hopefully it is just setting me up to have tempered expectations so that the movie will totally blow me away.

I recently watched all the Terminators and I decided Salvation is even worse than Genisys, robots with no resemblance to the earlier films' style, the pretentious colour bleaching, Moon Bloodgood's invisible hairdressing and makeup entourage, Christian Bale looking like he's counting the seconds till it's over and the most comically unsanitary conditions for heart surgery.

Genisys' chief problem was that bottomless pit of human beige, Jai Courtney. It's embarassing to compare him to Michael Biehn. There's some fun in the early stages when the film tries to rewrite T1 but runs out of any idea what to do with the premise. Matt Smith makes a bigger impression than most of the cast even in such a brief appearance and could have been a good Reese or Connor.

3 was OK apart from Nick Stahl who lacked the presence for the role, Claire Danes was good and I enjoyed the truck chase.

From 3 onwards the Terminator on Terminator violence has become increasingly cartoonish as the machines beat the tar out of each other to little effect and you'd think people would give up firing ordinary bullets at Terminators by now.

The first film is still the real classic for me, not just Arnold's iconic presence, great action and a great love story - man travels across time because he's fallen in love with a photo that was taken when she was thinking about him.

I still like 2 but I find the change in the T800 a little jarring, in the first film it has little more intelligence than a toaster, it simply kills anything in its way. In the second it's capable of advanced reasoning and learns empathy. Robert Patrick is still great, real presence.

The TV series holds up well too.

"Moon Bloodgood" sounds like the ramblings of a werewolf.

Salvation is 100% the worst Terminator film.

It blows my mind that there are small pockets of people that think it's solid or underrated.

It's also the dumbest film in the franchise. I still laugh at the fact that Marcus, a prototype, was still made with this idea in mind for Skynet, that he would ultimately lead John Connor to his death. With his eventual self-awareness and realization he wants to be the good guy, Skynet's biggest design flaw turns out to be placing his chip in the back of his head/neck, which he can just easily dig into and crush with his fingertips.

It's also a visually ugly film. Not because of the bleached aesthetic. But McG purposely riffed 'Children of Men', to less than stellar results, which also featuring some of the cheapest looking set design and production values for a film north of a $100-million budget.

The one thing I will give Salvation, though, is Danny Elfman's score. His version of a Terminator theme is almost every bit as good as the original. It's extremely underrated--and have the film been equal to his score, it would've been every bit as memorable Terminator film as Cameron's.

Nothing past 2 is worth a damn. Arguing over which one is the worst is an exercise in pointlessness.

They all have positives and negatives. T3 is the least interesting for me though.

I like all the Terminator films except Salvation. The only good thing about that movie was Anton Yelchin. Ive always liked T3 & Genysis wasn't as bad as thought it would be.
