Yet another of the many superfluous circuits in modern consumer video systems which are named for the opposite effect of the one they produce.
In fact, any time you encounter any control with the term "enhancement" ascribed to it, you should probably run the other way. |

I'm not sure - but you may be seeing the Sony W4100 series "sparkles" problem. If that is what you see - you can get a fix from sony. Search for Sony Sparkles on avsforum.com.

120Hz Motion Enhancer? I leave it deactivated almost always. The only time I'm tempted to use that interpolation thingie is during a live, shot on video sports broadcast. It looks terrible when applied to a Blu-ray movie. The filter yields an effect similar to a broadcast videotape pushed into fast-forward mode. Not natural looking at all. I leave my TV's "sharpness" setting set at "Minimum" and Edge Enhancer set at "off." Blu-ray movies look much better and more natural that way. |

Of course 4096x2160 is called 4K (not 8K). I should have said 4K rather than 8K. So there is no need to go for 8K to accurately reproduce a 2K image. 4k would do. (Thanks for the correction. If I can I will edit my previous post.)

Take the chessboard pattern as an example. If the image is captured with 2K resolution and if the capture pixel grid is 1/2 pixel out on both axis, it will not capture the grid. However, if it is captured or scanned at 4K and if downsampling based on dropping alternate columns and rows is applied, the original pattern can be reproduced. |

And no, I’m not talking about Inception, as that’s only in production. If you want to know about that sci-fi action film, Wally may break down and leak something this afternoon in Universal City but, I say only might.
I’m talking about…………. http://www.bigpicturebigsound.com/Ex...dventure.shtml Would anyone care to venture as to how high of a resolution scan (in “k”) it would take to capture all the details of picture information on a single frame of negative recorded in IMAX format?......hint, it isn’t 8k despite the fact that current technology/practical storage limits us to this. Another hint…..it’s the same rez as the contact prints that were made from the IMAX negatives of a feature film that some people here may have already seen on Blu-ray. Keep in mind, that the image area of an IMAX film is larger than that of ‘traditional’ 65 mm OCN. Somebody else can look it up and list the exact mm. in width and height comparison for you folks to help with your guesses. As an aside, one of the ordeals involved in making this motion picture was that Shaun MacGillivary (son of Laguna Beach ![]() The good news………despite rigging the camera on the very bow of the raft while it went through a few of the biggest rapids on the Colorado River………the camera survived. Wally, are you listenting? |
