Will the forums ever be mobile friendly?

Frankly, navigating the forums is a nightmare on my phone. Everything about the site is fantastic... well everything except mobile. On phones, it's all tiny type and difficult to navigate. The kids tell me mobile is where it's at. I have to say the mobile experience is kind of the opposite of enjoyable. It was my understanding a fix would come shortly after the plug was pulled on Tapatalk. Will the site remain as it is or will there me a mobile version?

Any chance the site can add the option of a dark mode?

I'm not sure what the limitations of the board software are, but some cool things I've seen on other boards that I'd love to get here:

- Tagging users. For example: @DaBargainHunta
- If you're quoted, having that quote appear in a different color (something only you would see)
- Dark mode
- Most importantly, optimized for mobile. Right now, this site isn't mobile-friendly at all.

I subscribe to all above and add (if this should be posted somewhere else, sorry and please move it accordingly):
- the iOS app is only good on iPhone but on iPad we still have to use the X2 mode to see a crude and harsh version expanded to almost whole screen
- also the scanning function on my iPhone 5S rarely read the bar-codes from BD's, while using it on my iPad Air works MUCH better

I really dislike tagging. This isn't social media. You end up scrolling past a ton of useless posts.

Most of my time on this forum is on my phone or tablet. I don't understand these mobile friendly requests either.

I am not really sure what this post is meant to accomplish.

If you don't like tagging, so what? It won't affect you. You won't get notifications if someone tags me, but *I* will (and stuff like that can generally be turned off, so if it's implemented here, turn it off).

I'm glad the mobile experience is working for you. For me and most others, this board is poorly optimized for mobile and has severe room for improvement in that dept. If and when it does improve, I fail to see how that would negatively affect your browsing experience. It won't. But will enhance mine and most other users of this forum.

In case there's a misunderstanding, I am referring only to the forum, not the app (which I haven't used extensively, but it seems okay).

Would love to see an automatic dark mode function, I’m using iPhone iOS 13.1 & iPad OS 13.1 and the dark mode is beautiful, so easy on the eyes, makes reading at night so pleasant. Haven’t seen any of the developers for this site post about dark mode updates coming, I mentioned it in another thread (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...=318253&page=8).

Check out https://www.macrumors.com/ if your running iPhone(site not updated on iPad yet for auto dark mode) 13.0 or later and check out when you change the system wide settings the website will automatically switch between light mode/dark mode.

Hopefully https://www.blu-ray.com/ will be updated soon to support this feature, will cross my fingers, toes and eyes 👀

I would love to have all of these features...

Especially being optimized for use on mobile. I am sitting in bed right now and it’s so frustrating to write replies out.

I’d also like something such as Dark mode. I tend to browse the forums on my phone late at night. Especially when Mitch is on his benders. I end up having my brightness turned down all the way. I’d even be okay with a darker forum theme.

At one point were people able to access this forum on Tappatalk? I can’t remember if it was this site or not.

I used to love this site five years ago. I would visit the forums multiple times a day, constantly interacting with friends. Even then this site felt outdated. But that was okay as mobile technology was still evolving and screen sizes were generally small. So you would use your computer to access the site. But today, as most people do the majority of their online browsing with a mobile or tablet, this site is an absolute nightmare to browse through.

No responsive design in 2019? Time for the developers to seriously wake up or consider a career change.

I see dark mode listed in the site options but it does not work when selected (at least for me on safari on an iPhone. Any plans on fixing that?

Sorry, that option is currently only for developers. I've removed it until it's finished.

Will this be auto dark mode on iOS 13/iPad OS 13 where the site will detect the system wide preference and auto adjust to light/dark mode? Also thank you for working on this feature, it means a lot to us!
