Yeah. The description said it was a "maxed out bitrate BD-50", and it doesn't seem like it.
Here's some ones with artifcating I noticed at first glance; [Show spoiler] Still, I'm glad another classic cel-animated OVA has been restored. |

50GB disc. I thought it looked generally fine in-motion. The file size is barely 23GB and the rest of the disc is dedicated to extras (total disc size is 42.54). |

I’m just telling that guy who’s lazy not to do any research himself that there’s tons of good resources out there a simple Google search away. I’m not going to waste my time by running down the basics of production and stuff like that to one person because they don’t want to spend time finding out stuff by themselves- which is in many ways, the best education for stuff like this.

Hmmm I cant really see anything wrong here other than the lack of grain. Not doubting you but I personally cant tell.

Besides what's the point of coming onto a forum to find answers when you're just told to get lost and do your own research when foruming can be considered a source of research? That's like going to school asking a question that may or may not be relevant to school work, only for the teacher to tell you "Go look this up yourself; I'm not going to tell you even if I know the answer, you big baby!" Things were literally explained to you earlier, like how production is so tight that episodes are being delivered to TV stations mere hours before they're supposed to air, and these are productions that still aren't being animated at 1080P. We tried to explain some of the basics, there's even a great Answerman article that was linked just a few posts ago, written by someone who knows his stuff because of how long he's been involved with the industry. Instead of reading and learning, you decided to shoot down what was told to you and now wonder why we're frustrated.

I think the JP release removed the windowboxing. |

Anyhoo there's a review of the UK disc in which the user points out it is windowboxed like the Japanese one. They all might be windowboxed it seems. In any case I'm curious about the encode. |

I'm super busy with midterms but here are a few quick screenshot comparisons for Boogiepop:

There's a lot of banding in those shots for Phoenix. It looks okay otherwise for compression, especially with it being 1080i and from Media Blasters. Nothing Moribito level bad at least. This review over at Fandom Post mentions that the lossy 5.1 tracks are terrible compared to the lossless 2.0 tracks. |

In Brazil, I watched Boogiepop Phantom on cable over 15 years ago and loved it, but I've always resisted buying RightStuf's DVD release because it was sourced from partially censored broadcast masters. I decided to buy the BD release once they revealed they finally got access to the uncensored Japanese home video masters, but I wasn't expecting such a video quality upgrade. Going by the comparative lack of artifacts, it looks like the home video masters are component instead of composite.
