This thread is funny.

It's like: "List your Top 5 Favorite Albums", and people answer:

1. All Beatles albums
2. All Rolling Stones albums
3. All Radiohead albums
4. All Jimmy Buffett albums
5. A tie between all R.E.M., Cream, and Britney Spears albums.

3- The Entire Terminator Series.

4- The Entire Riddick (Pitch Black) Series: Great soundtrack, great planets, great stories.

5- A tie between Doom (Great location, similar to Alien), Event Horizon, Sunshine, Dead Space: Downfall, Bladerunner and The Thing. All are great.
You say top 5, but you mentioned like 17 movies {not including anime sequels or sequels that haven't hit theater yet.} *LOL*

Hm, ok... I kind of have to agree with the ewok thing. But anyway. Episodes 1-3 is nowhere near 4-6.

I didn't say episodes 1-3 were better than episodes 4-6.

I said episode 3 is better than episode 6, and that episode 6 is better than episode 2 (and impliedly, episode 1).

I'm talking movies; not trilogies.

thanks.

as for Clockwork, no, not really.

Sci-Fi Definition
literary fantasy involving the imagined impact of science on society
wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

I just reject the notion that "imagined impact of science on society" must always involve anti-gravity space flight. not saying you're saying that, but i do think there is that stereotype out there.

clockwork was a masterpiece, and its themes of "sudden behavioral modification" pervade many other sci-fi classics, it just doesn't have the stereotypical space flight. doesn't matter to me.

Can Children of Men be classified as sci-fi? It's depicts future events but that's it.

Absolutely. It's futuristic vision is, in fact, quite a visionary achievement, but more to the point, is certainly based on science and technology. Like many sci-fi type films, is dystopic in nature. I see your point in asking, though, as those aspects of the movie are blended in quite well, and not to the fore of its presentation like more "traditional" sci-fi films.

Top five Sci-Fi is impossible for me, but in no particular order:

Blade Runner

Back to the Future (all 3 episodes)

Star Wars, Episodes IV & V (but enjoy all, even the horrible acting in I - III)

Alien & Aliens

Contact

Additional inclusions go to 2001: A Space Odyssey, Sunshine, Gattaca, and many others.

I don't think you hurt his feelings, you just couldn't follow your own rules in your own thread.
