I have to say... this movie looks sweet/awesome. My wife and I definitely want to check this out. It looks like it could be really awesome on a nice 4k setup as well!

Im guessing the release will be mid December (like Smallfoot) Different studios of course, but im sure Universal wants to release it before Christmas.

If it's true that bad things come in threes, I anticipate this being cancelled just like Smallfoot and Missing Link.

Missing Link was from Annapurna (who don't do 4K's). That was never gonna get a 4K release. Universal is better at releasing 4K's than WB.

IIRC it was Fox who distributed Missing Link on BD and the 4K was available for pre-order at one time. I would not be surprised if it was going to get a 4K release until it tanked at the BO. It's a shame since it was lovely in Dolby Cinema.

Just saw it with my son, and thankfully, no. It looked outstanding in Dolby Cinema. Color and contrast were breathtaking, and the movie was better than I expected. Noticed a bit of aliasing and shimmering, but otherwise it looked flawless to me. And after seeing the previews it was a massive relief to find that the movie didn’t feature Fleetwood Mac in any way, shape, or form. I will really be disappointed if this gets canceled. Should look great.

Edit: On a side note, during the previews there was a promo for the Studio Ghibli fest that my local AMC is participating in and when Secret World of Arrietty popped up I was like "hey, we have tickets to see that!" Then it suddenly dawned on me that our tickets were for today. Luckily the showtimes worked out so we just had some lunch after Abominable and then went right back to the theater for Arrietty. Pretty good day at the cinema!

Just came back from this one. Looked great and it's one of my 2019 favorites for sure (husband thought the same). Had a great story and humor was outstanding too. Had A LOT of great colors, so should look amazing with 4k HDR.

thankfully it got a 4K Dolby Vision streaming release on Vudu, but an actual UHD disc release would have been sweet.
