It simply meant going back to the machine and swapping discs. It was pretty painless. On another note, last week I noticed that "Ant-Man & The Wasp" was down to $4.99 for the blu-ray, so I decided to buy it. When I went this week to get it, it had been reduced in price to $3.99. |

Question is their a pattern to what studios do downgraded audio or movie only rental discs?
I know someone mentioned Universal Titles are often retail. Trying to determine if Bohemian Rhapsody is retail and includes and bonus features or if the DTS is downgraded as rental only title. Its a 20th Fox title. Also I know most Disney titles seem to be retail. Last edited by jfcarbel; 09-28-2019 at 08:44 PM. |

Fox, usually retail. Disney, definitely retail (the lawsuit Redbox vs Disney still has Redbox employees buying the discs at Walmart, etc.) although on older movies they weren't retail. Lionsgate, this is still a grab bag; they were known for not having special features. Dredd at redbox was a 3d version with high-end audio (most people didn't even know it was a 3d disc, and iirc the disc still said rental) A24, mostly everything, although iirc they partner with different distributors. Sony, usually retail but sometimes marked on the disc as rental. Paramount, same. Most of the studios have come around to redbox - studios are getting a consumer willing to pay a hard earned $1.75, who will occasionally purchase the movie outright, and the studio splits are better nowadays. DVDs at redbox wrt special features are a crapshoot though. |

Thanks for that summary, so seems Fox, Disney and Universal are pretty good to bet on solid retail audio.
Speaking of Lionsgate was hoping to get "Anna" when that goes down in price. Anyone know if the Redbox version contains the Atmos for audio? |

I received an email from redbox about a new prize giveaway that they are promoting.
- When renting from the Walmart kiosks, you may receive a golden disc that contains instructions on how to redeem your prize (1 of 200 prizes). These special discs are only @ Walmart kiosks and game ends on Feb. 3. This is kinda like finding the golden ticket in one of those candy bars in Willy Wonka. ![]() ![]() |
