I loved Phoenix so am keen to see it. Again, shame it got DVD only. AE really should know better than to do that.

While in HMV today, my Mother noticed that The Hustle (2019) was released on DVD but neither of us could find it on Blu-ray. I checked on here, and to my surprise, it hasn't got a UK release. How weird? Considering that it's available in the US on Blu-ray and it was screened at our local cinema?

That is weird, it's not like there's a precedent for theatrically released movies not getting a UK blu ray. I mean if there was, there would probably be a thread for it.

There's no need for sarcasm. I was sharing a release that happens to not be getting a Blu-ray release in the UK, which happens to be the title of this thread.

It's a Universal release that 'only' made less than $100 million and it focuses on women so it didn't stand a chance, thankfully at least most Universal Blus tend to be region free and I bet it'll see a release in continental Europe. However of course its cheaper and more convenient to see a UK release.

It's going to be an HMV exclusive

Dirty God & The Chambermaid are DVD only releases.

Though I suppose that's better than 3 Days in Quiberon which doesn't appear to be even getting a DVD release

Does anyone know who owns the UK distribution rights to Warlock II: The Armageddon? That definitely needs a blu-ray release.

Ready or Not seems to be another victim, only a DVD release listed on Amazon.

Here is an odd one: Late Night (2018) is set for a DVD release later this month from Universal UK, but it also doesn't have any home video release at all in the US (likely down to Amazon.com) even though it apparently received a DVD from Universal in Canada last month. But Universal Germany (possibly distributing for Entertainment One) will release a Blu-ray there on 30 December 2019 according to information just posted on Bluray-disc.de here:

Amazon.de currently claims a release date of 20 June 2020, but I believe that's only a placeholder.

Well it’s not like Fox were great for releasing mainstream films on HD prior to the acquisition, ala Love, Simon and The Hate U Give. That said, Ready or Not is a genre film with a much more niche but faithful audience, it’s strange it’s not getting a Blu-ray release.

Late Night is out on Blu Ray in Australia in November, which is a little odd given it failed at the box office.

Already have it preordered. I saw it in the cinema last week & loved it so wasn't gonna miss out on it.
Still a bit silly that there's nothing this side of the pond.
Even Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark is only getting a Blu-ray release, no 4K unlike the U.S. (unless we get the steelbook that Best Buy are releasing).

Pedro Almodovar's Pain and Glory is getting a DVD only release in January, ending a run of his recent films on blu ray from Pathe. It's not surprising as Pathe seem to be hardly releasing anything these days, and I'm hoping that they might do an HMV exclusive with it, as I think they did the same with The Little Stranger last year.

They're also sitting on the UK rights to a lot of his films, at least one of which was letterboxed on DVD (All About My Mother), and don't seem to licence out to anyone else - it's frustrating when labels sit on titles and they're stuck in SD limbo.

A Pathé UK Blu-ray for Pain and Glory was recently listed here on Amazon for £14.99:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Pain-...lu-ray/253927/

htlhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07YKSVBGY

I see that the UK DVD has art and a release date (13 January 2020), while the Blu-ray has neither, but I would still pre-order the Blu-ray as the UK branch of Fox seems to be having a really hard time getting certain titles properly listed on Amazon over the past several months.

EDIT: I see it has disappeared from Amazon, now.

well thankfully it will come out on blu-ray, at least in the US, after all, perhaps you'll still get in the UK without having to import
although a bit of a shame no UHD
