Christmas Vacation had been available uncut on a PG-cert Blu with no accordant recertification for almost the last decade. Unless some jobsworth decides to inform the BBFC then Ace 2 should have no worries...

I remember when Batman Returns finally came out in the UK uncut. Some of us suspected Warners had released it illegally as there was no mention of a re-submission on the BBFC site. But then it turned out the BBFC had just forgot to list it.

On a related note, though, I'm 99% sure The Rules of Attraction wasn't resubmitted, so the existing uncut UK disc is a bit naughty.

EDIT: Just consulted Google for confirmation and holy shit:

Quote:
As of 2014 the BBFC have confirmed that the cut has not been waived and that this uncut version should not be distributed. The distributors have been informed some time ago, but the Blu-ray is still on sale at Amazon. Presumably the opportunity to buy this uncut version is now time limited.
Well, it's two years later and it's still available on Amazon for cheap. Bless you, Icon.

And that being the case, have the BBFC chased after Icon with torches and pitchforks? Nope. The disc isn't being sold in an official capacity by Amazon because it's only available from third party sellers, but the BBFC could insist that the listings are closed and the SKU deleted....and yet it's still there. Eh.

But this is common practice with Warner and older films. It's not economic for them to master a U.K. cut BD so they just give us the uncut international version. Didn't they do the same with Under Siege 1 & 2 in the Seagal boxset when they finally got released here ?

The BBFC seem happy to turn a blind eye given they know the films would not be cut today at those ratings and Warner put a massive amount of work and hence fees their way on new films.

It's not like it's a problem or anything considering the set as a whole is rated 12. Just the PG on the disc threw me, the censors have passed Cat in the Hat as a PG and the innuendo in that is on par with Ace Ventura, if not far cruder.

Got this and The Mask on Amazon for £9.99 and £9.96 respectively. Very pleased to find an affordable double pack of Ace Ventura. The price for the OOP US set scared the hell out of me.

So, is When Nature Calls uncut or not?

EDIT: Set has arrived. I can confirm that When Nature Calls is uncut!

Not confirmed, but I've never known a Warner BD to be region locked. 99% sure all are region free.

Looks like Ace Ventura Pet Detective is getting a release from Arrow Video in the near future. Hopefully it includes the extended cut with the dolphin trainer scene. Was so upset that Sony didn't include it on their release.

Original release was Warner, not Sony.

Now being licenced to Arrow as all the Morgan Creek produced films are no longer with Warner.

Sony acquired some/all Morgan Creek titles in the US and re-released the two Ace Ventura films themselves on US BD. You seem to be aware of that with the qualifier of "original release" but the OP wasn't wrong: Sony didn't include those scenes on their release either.

Correct. Sony released a 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray in the US in January. Theatrical cut only.

As the upcoming re-release is by Arrow it'll probably have more bonus features than the original release, but does anyone know if that includes the deleted scenes, or if the films themselves will be longer cuts than the WB release?

The upcoming releases from Arrow of this title and the others most likely won’t have any special features.

I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s the same transfers that Morgan Creek gave to Sony in the US because those things fare fugly compared to the Warner releases.

So the Sony releases are worse? Any comparisons?

Given what Arrow did with the John Hughes movies and extended cuts I would ****ing LOVE it if they could sort out the original US home video version of Ace Ventura with the dolphin trainer scene, and also the longer TV edit where Ace is on-stage with Cannibal Corpse, goes to visit a bar in Ray Finkel's home town etc.
