Post Resume Play-- Is it an option with any Blu-Ray player?

Hi, I'm new at this, please pardon my ignorance. I've read many posts, and it looks to me like you can bookmark some DVD's, but not all, and that "Resume Play" isn't an option if I want a Blu-Ray player. Is that correct? That option has been around for so many years, I don't understand why it's not available on a Blu-Ray. If none of them have it, I'll go ahead a buy one, but didn't want to spend $500 and then find out I could have gotten it with a different model. I'm looking at buying either the Sony BDP-S550 or 560, or the Panasonic DMP-BD55. Thanks in advance!!

I have the PS3 and when you press stop then eject it resumes back to where you left off on all dvds and most Blu-rays

Yeah the fact that it doesn't always resume where you left off tends to piss me off, hopefully Sony will release a firmware update at some point to fix this issue. :P

Well some Blu-rays already include a bookmark feature already especially the ones with the whole BD-J. This is why I said most Blu-rays have resume playback because the ones with the bookmark feature included are not included in the resume playback and that you had to make use of the bookmark feature

See but that's the first time I've ever heard of the bookmark feature on a blu-ray, really.

This is NOT a FIXABLE ISSUE, Sony won't release anything to fix anything. When the blu-ray use JAVA it can't replay from it's position by itself.

Disney started to use RESUME PLAY with JAVA and it's there in HSM3. When you get to the menu part and press PLAY MOVIE, it ask you if you want to start were you left off or restart playback.

Off course you have to reload the menu and skip the ads.

When a movie is not using Java (very rare now), the disc resume it's position were it left off on most player (i know it work on my S350 but only on old blu-ray release and asian release, were not Java is used).

It's not the players it's the disc. Some of them have it and some of them you have to use the bookmark feature then when you put the disc back in you select the bookmark from the main menu.
