To be fair, what else can they do? They can't change the past.

They could choose a less deceptive strategy to begin with?

It's confusingly worded, but I get the impression they were trying to say that they are the only company releasing it, not the only one selling it. So it's exclusively remastered and released by them (no one else has announced a release, right?), not exclusively sold... Maybe...

But that's true of the vast majority of their output and they never say that except when things ARE exclusive like their Prisoner set or some of their piecework boxsets.

Apologise and not stick their head in the sand when replying to legit issues?

As above...to not lie in the first place would be the best solution. Then there's the response to the poster on the last page when they encouraged them to pre-order ASAP when this is clearly a much wider release than they let on.

Companies are only as good as their word. Next Network "exclusive" will probably not have as many people scrambling to throw money at it on Day 1 of pre-order.

Not holding them to a higher standard and saying "It happened, what can you do?" is just asking to be walked over.

I get all that, but they can't change it now so offering a refund is probably the best they can do in customer service if you are that annoyed?

Even though it's now apparent that this release is not exclusively being sold by Network, unless anyone knows any different, at £100.00 including delivery it's currently cheaper than any other vendor...

With The Prisoner though, other companies in other regions have the rights to the HD versions, and have made Blu-ray releases. Their set is exclusive to them, yes, but they're not the only ones that put The Prisoner on Blu-ray.

The Network page for MPFC says "AN EXCLUSIVE BLU-RAY RELEASE!" They're the only ones in the world putting it out on Blu-ray.

Found this in the site's terms and conditions.

Please note that, as a UK distributing company, Network are licensed to release Region 2/PAL DVDs only. This does not apply to the Monty Python’s Flying Circus Norwegian Blu-ray edition.

Again, that reason doesn't wash though as almost all their output is "exclusive" in that case as they release a lot of British stuff no other country cares less about. They don't have a big "EXCLUSIVE" on their Larry Grayson set!

I really hope you don't work in customer service. If someone has a legit issue - you've misled them - you don't just come back and say "OK...want your money back?" - you answer the questions they asked and explain what's happened and why...oh, and apologise! That's Customer Service 101.

That, however, doesn't matter.

Or £87 for us outside the UK.

The difference would be that a US company could licence Larry Garyson if they wanted to, but Network have made a special release of Monty Python for US release, so it is possible that they have an exclusive world-wide licence. I'm not saying that's the case, just that it could explain (although not excuse) the confusion.

Where does it actually say that the release is exclusive to direct sales from the website?

The only claim that I can see is that the Blu-ray release is exclusive to Network.

I live in the US. If I order this set from a retailer like Zavvi, do I have the option of receiving the 50i version?

The 50hz version is all Zavvi will sell, it’s only Network that is sending out region specific sets.

I would assume however that Amazon US, Canada and Japan would be receiving stock of the 60i version.

Right, for stores other than Network's own, that store will sell in the video format (50i/60i) that's standard for the region they're based in.

Network' store sells both, but sends you the video format that's standard for the region your delivery address is in.

Sorry if this might have been answered earlier on in the thread, but was the 50i to 60i conversion done with motion interpolation, frame blending, or frame doubling?
