Same here. I don't know what the story is, but it's OK. I have SO MUCH stuff piled up that needs to be watched anyways. But, yeah, I found that odd as well.

Are there any more Phoebe Cates films people want released on Blu? I remember back in the early days of the format (or was it the late days of DVD lol) people were clamoring for a Cates film. Don't recall the title, perhaps it's Private School? It was something with a "P' in the title

Paradise. That's the gold standard for a Phoebe Cates film. And still no Blu-ray.

It's rumored that Cates bought the rights to Paradise many years ago so she could bury it forever. There's a reason why the only available home video edition is a sketchy Korean DVD.

The gif's are really all that's worth watching. IMO of course. No disrespect to any of the talent involved in bringing this movie to my .... .

makes this and Fast Times seem like Mr. Rogers
(although speaking of such unreleased titles, Blown Away (1992) almost makes Paradise seem like Mr. Rogers in comparison, this one was lucky to even make it onto DVD uncut when the studio accidentally put the uncut version on the DVD as the R-rated (apparently some deal was made that was supposed to bury the unrated cut) so it says R-rated but it's not and more to entirely like the unrrated VHS))

There's a legitimate European DVD from Universal/StudioCanal. My copy is from Universal Netherlands. The DVD is region 2/4 and PAL with English and Spanish audio options and 12 subtitle options. Extras are a photo gallery and a trailer.

It's 4:3 (appears to be open matte) and is not a copy of a VHS. It is missing both the Avco Embassy opening logo and Phoebe's theme song during the end credits (it has been replaced with instrumental music).

Universal/StudioCanal Netherlands DVD (I own this one):

The 3rd party sellers on Amazon are currently selling it for around $30 which is too much in my opinion. It's a decent release and is very watchable on my OLED TV but I'd wait until you can find it for around $10-$15 on Amazon or eBay. If you are buying from a 3rd party seller on Amazon, I'd recommend contacting them prior to purchase and get them to confirm that they are selling the Universal/StudioCanal DVD and not one of the cheap Asian bootleg DVDs.
