My Halloween selection will be The Fearless Vampire Killers. My late brother loved this movie and watching it reminds me of the times when we watched it together. So, watching it is nostalgic, sentimental, and it qualifies as a horror/comedy film making it a Halloween trifecta win.

Seems I’m not the only one horrified by this.

Seems a few actors and directors are (once again) in league with me.

Sad times when artistic merit is ignored in favour of catering to attention challenged millenials

Yeah, I'm sure that's a league they'd join.

Millenials are not "attention (span) challenged" but your obsession with them and your persistent paranoia over every new little thing suggests that you have plenty of challenges of your own to deal with. Start by addressing your own issues before even attempting to diagnose those of anyone else. Millenials are just fine; I really wish I could say that about you.

No one ever said that you were unique; asylums aren't built for just one.

Thanks man, it is a nice looking house, but I hate that I have no personal space. I was apparently being pretty loud playing Halo MCCC multiplayer a couple of nights ago

I’m not. This is actual tweets from actors and directors. You know? The guys actually involved in the making of films. Of course the press is going to pick up on it.
Netflix are messing with artistic intent and those tweeters are furious (quite rightly so).

People can react to Netflix's actions however they choose. Netflix adding variable speed playback does not foretell the end of movies or of anything else. It's just a feature that I, and many others, will ignore.

It’s a disgusting feature that should be scrapped. Catering to audiences is one thing, bastardising content is another.

Im starting to think you guys will just bend over and take whatever these guys throw at us.

Do you know what the purpose of a fire alarm is? It is to warn people of a real danger so that they may make their way to safety. Thus, the alarm serves an important purpose.

You sound alarms constantly, but to what purpose? You never tell us what we should do to save whatever you claim is in danger. Thus, you make all of this noise for no good reason at all.

Your daily fire alarms sound in a building with no exits leaving everyone to just burn alive. You cry wolf so often over so little that if you ever do sound a real alarm, no one will be listening.

What good would it do if we did? All of your predictions end badly no matter what we do, so there's just no point in even listening to you. Your alarms are as unwelcome as would be daily reminders that we are all one day closer to death. If there is nothing we can do about it, we do not need, and we do not want, your constant warnings.

Let me put this to you.

Netflix introduce the feature permanently and their stats and research show 90% Of their audience is watching at double speed. They fin d that people are flying through series quicker and staying on Netflix longer.

What then?

Cancel Netflix citing this reason. Everyone can do that.

I warned of this three years ago and now it’s happening. I hsve no doubt millions will watch films and tv this way. No doubt at all.

I don't subscribe now; what more would you have me do?

You never advise anyone of what they should do making your posts not just incredulous for their absurdity, but pointless in the extreme as you offer no remedies.

When it comes to feature films, I'll agree with this. More movies are being released to Disk (Blu/DVD) than in the past. Though it's a given that newer movies will always get physical media releases, each year some older films are either getting re-released or released for the first time.

But, I've noticed that not all TV show seasons are seeing physical media releases at all (i.e., the later seasons of Netflix Marvel shows Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Daredevil, Luke Cage) or else have DVD-R only releases, i.e. the excellent John Singleton-produced crime drama Snowfall only got a DVD-R release of Seasons 1-2 (no S03 release yet), and Legion S02-S03 only got DVD-R releases as well.

Yes, DVD-R's are still physical media - but they're a step down from regular DVD's....due to the PQ typically not being quite as good.

Just my .02

The remedy is contacting Netflix and letting them know what you think?

How about they just not use the "objectionable" feature?

Netflix does not care how their stuff is watched, or with what, so long as people are paying to watch it.

TV seasons are more problematic, but many do get released, but too many are relegated to only DVD.

DVD-Rs are not inherently lower in pq/aq quality; it is their longevity that is questioned. They have the same data capacity as a pressed disc. I make 1:1 DVD and 1:1 blu-ray back-ups on occasion and there is no difference in playback quality between the back-up and the source disc. The entire digital files are copied to the burned disc and thus the playback is equivalent.
