Default Superman: The Complete Animated Series DVD Box Set

I've bought the Superman: The Complete Animated Series DVD Box Set twice now and both times one of the three dual-sided DVDs in the set was defective. One or two of the episodes on one of the discs just wouldn't play no matter what I tried. Did anyone else have trouble with the dual-sided DVDs in this set or am I just having bad luck getting two defective sets in a row?

I ordered a set last year and all the dual-sided discs were defective to some degree. The layers looked like they'd separated and all arrived scratched (it didn't help that the box was smashed to bits). I contacted Warner Bros. and they sent an envelope to return them, but it was a FedEx envelope and I honestly couldn't make sense of it!

They re-issued Wonder Woman on single-sided DVDs last year I was hoping Superman: The Animated Series had been granted the same treatment.

I usually clean DVDs that don't work and the liquid was getting trapped between sides, so it tells you how bad their dual-sided discs are.

The second set I ordered recently arrived smashed to bits as well, all of the discs were loose and badly scratched. I was within the return window for both sets so I just returned them for a refund.

I did a search and noticed that in Australia Superman: The Complete Animated Series was re-released last year on 9/11/16 in a 9-disc DVD set. I wonder if this set has each season across 3 single-sided DVDs and just doesn't have the bonus disc. Although it does say that it is PAL and Region 4.

It would be nice if Warner Bros. would re-release it, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. I'm not going to bother buying the U.S. DVD set for a third time, but I might consider importing the Australian DVD set if I can find a little more info on it (or pictures of it).

It isn't PAL, but actually NTSC.

Can anybody tell me if the American 6-disc or the UK 9-disc are one-sided? I already have the series, in individual box sets from when they first came out, but I've been thinking about getting the complete set since a blu-ray isn't immediately forthcoming (it's not, is it?) and the last time I tried to rewatch the series with the two-sided discs I had playback problems.

I'd wait until next year, hopefully about this time (or sooner) we'll get a release after Batman: The Animated Series' and Batman Beyond's Blu-rays.

The newer US set aren't flippers if that helps (a review mentions it), but I have no idea how the UK set is made up.

Normally I would but I really want to re-watch it and the DVD's not that expensive

Just an update for anybody who's interested, I bought the UK R2 S:TAS set and so far I'm pleased with what I see. It's nine single sided DVDs, three for each season. I haven't sat down to watch it, so I dunno if it includes the bonus feature from the US R1 7-Disc but otherwise I would imagine the presentation is much the same as the original DVDs

Also, if you're an R1 collector or otherwise concerned about the ugly R2 BBFC ratings, they're just stickers, they peel off.
