Quality with streaming has numerous variables so one never knows what the quality could be. At least with Netflix I can check from servers to home with their app. Since my ISP has finally replaced a faulty fiber node close by my Netflix prime time speed has been ≥ 50 Mbps.

No linear pay TV for many years.

I ditched cable TV in 2014. I use an antenna instead.

I also stream occasionally, using both subscription and video on demand services intermittently.

Testing out content with one of the above options has often resulted in my buying content on disc. I only buy content on disc, but not everything that I want to watch warrants a purchase, so the other options fulfill that need.

Regardless, as soon as I read you were about to watch the shows, I knew you would come back with glowing reviews. I just wasn’t surprised in the slightest. Just being honest.

I meant the service first. The content was secondary. In fact, from what I've seen, I'll rank them because I was really surprised that I liked them as much as I did.

I have not watched the others. The only bummer is that the one-hour shows only had the first 3 episodes released. The 30-minute ones, like Dickinson, were all released to binge.

The interface and quality was fantastic and you could tell Apple spent a ton of money to make sure it was a flawless launch. Everything is in 4K/Dolby Vision/Atmos, so they're even futureproof for those that don't have the equipment.

One thing I don’t doubt is the reliability. Maybe the content will find its feet after a while, it just looked stale to me. The reviews I read didn’t change my mind. It seems middle of the road to me.

My ISP just raised my rates another $10 per month with no improvements, naturally. I sure do love the age of digital right about now.

I can't go one year without a rate hike. It makes it really tempting to just use my mobile internet and tell my ISP to go f*ck itself; it is plenty good enough for shopping online, buying discs, and posting here.

Just get a 4G fixed broadband deal. Like you say, good enough for the things you mention. Don’t you game online?

I do game some online, but not that often.

I could also switch to slow as molasses ADSL internet for about half the cost of my broadband service, but that means buying an ADSL modem. I'd then have blazing download speeds of 18 Mbps!

Beeching about price hikes is a ritual performed by old farts on fixed incomes everywhere. I may also do nothing other than complain loudly for a bit. Too soon to tell.

That would be comfortably enough for online gaming. I used to get by with the likes of Call Of Duty and FIFA online with just 3Mbps before I got fibre. Rarely had any problems.
