Went to monoprice.com - seeing 22AWG/24AWG/26AWG HDMI male to male cable??

Depends how far your PS3 is to your TV...

Higher gauge (the lower the number) is always better, look at the "High-Quality 24AWG HDMI Male to Male Cables". The 22 gauge cables are overkill unless you are running really long distances.

Assuming your PS3 is not more than 3 feet away then this should be fine.

Not sure if this is the right forum but could you suggest a good sound system to complement the HD TV?

What price range are you looking in and how big of a room do you have? A lot will depend on these two factors.

The bedroom would only be 12ft X 12ft approx - not looking to spend too much probably between $100 - $250.

I have a creative sound system hooked up to my PC - up until know I've been running the sound off this to my HD TV in the other room but sound is not as good as if I were playing directly from PC.
