Of course, I wish it was an extended edition, but what can you do? Anybody see this in theaters? Who's picking it up?

I loved this movie and can't wait to get my hands on the blu hopefully soon. This movie was made for 2 types of people, the first being people whole love over the top action ala Riki-O or Rambo and the second being true fans of the MAX Punisher series.

If you've read and enjoyed the MAX series this movie is pretty faithful.

Oh and as far as Thomas Jane goes... I like the guy but he's a bit of a pretty boy and that version of the Punisher was just not the Punisher.

He (Stevenson) looks (as well as he demeanor etc...) like he was literally ripped out of the comic.

I was not aware of this. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. In light of this I'll probably check it out as a Netflix rental. I always thought it was just a sequel to Thomas Jane's version in which they recast the character for some reason.

I was aware of this, although I had forgotten about Dolph Lundgren's version. Thinking back on it, I find that version torturesome to watch. I definitely thought Jane's version was far superior.

I enjoyed this film. Total brain-off ultra-violence type of film. Perfect film while I was chomping on pizza

The Jane version is not a very well directed movie, first of all. But more importantly, it is hella inaccurate. For most comic movies, I don't care about accuracy/loyalty, but with the Punisher I care. There are so many deviations in the Jane film, I just get annoyed when I watch it. The theatrical cut suffers without the subplot, but the extended cut is WAY too long.

The fact that the director believed that losing his wife and child wouldn't be enough for Frank - the fact that he believed killing Frank's entire extended would be family would be better is ridiculous. I also have a problem with the fact that it was directed like a western. The final shootout with Travolta was anti-climactic and pathetic. And Travolta is quite possibly the worst villain ever in a comic book film.

War Zone delivered in every way - the performances, the visual style, the violence, the origin, the plot itself. Need I say more?

2004 Punisher had a better story, acting, actors. Punisher: War Zone has better visual (visceral?) effects.

It's not a reboot. This film is based on the Marvel Knights storyline. Marvel Knights is darker, more violent, and uses more language.

It was good as hell, I wish it would done better at the box office in order to be looking forward to a sequel. Go and get it you wont be dissapointed.

I don't quite understand your post. This film is a reboot. Completely ignores the last film. It tells the Punisher's origin accurately.

I know it is based on the Marvel Knights run. I already said that, but you are incorrect about the language. There was no language in the Marvel Knights run, because Marvel had not yet created the MAX line of comics. MAX is where the real violence and language began. The Marvel Knights run was filled with tongue-in-cheek humor and over the top villains. This is the main source of inspiration for the film.

This will be in my blu ray collection for sure! Movie is violent, eye candy and Ray Stevenson is perfect choice to play the character. Although I do miss Thomas Jane I think he plays a lighter tone punisher. The new one is dark, ominious and merciless. Great Movie!

Thomas Jane sucks, worst Punisher ever. Ray Stevenson does justice to the character and this movie is far better than the other Punisher films.

It's not a reboot in that they completely come up with a new storyline. The storyline is already based on something else. Different from the Jane film, but still not considered a reboot.

It's got brutal violence and questionable dialogue both not intended for children. Is that better?

I personally liked the look of Punsiher when Jim Lee was drawing him in Punisher War Journal. Not the earlier issues ( I think he was still getting used to the character) but the mid to later part of his time drawing punisher in the War Journal series.

You lose all credibility when you say you loved The Punisher(2004). That movie was POS. That movie is not only a failure as a Punisher comic book adaptation but also a failure as a movie in general. I don't get how anyone who's a fan of the Punisher would like that movie. It was highly inaccurate to the character.

I guess you love Thomas Jane's genius plan with the fire hydrant to trick all his enemies, huh?. lol yea....that's the Punisher allright.

I have almost every Punisher comic ever made...I have alot of actual comics and the rest I have on my computer. And the first Thomas Jane movie was 100 times better then this POS.Just because it has alot of random acts of violence doesnt make it better. The one guy was right when he said this was more of a Punisher Max movie. The first one explored more of the Punisher character...and this concentrated on Jiggsaw...who was horribly portrayed. Was he supposed to be Al Capone or sumthin?Micro getting shot in the head.....the very cheesy acrobatic thugs....the annoying cannibal brother....the clueless babbling cop.The acting in this movie was horrible.....I know its The Punisher and its not all about story but it deserved more then this. The kills where the only descent thing about the movie but they dont make up for all the flaws.Theres a reason all the Punisher fans where upset when they found out he wasnt returning......and I see why he did that now.The Mist was so much better then Warzone...

That is the very definition of a reboot. The Incredible Hulk has a completely different storyline from the first film. It is not an origin, like War Zone is not an origin.

Your argument is sort of like the episode in Seinfeld when Kramer wants to build levels and Jerry bets him he won't do it. Then when Kramer backs out he says the bet's off because he's not doing it and Jerry screams "That's the bet!" You say "It's a completely different story" and I scream "That's a reboot!"

Someone else tell me if I'm wrong. Isn't this film what Marvel calls a reboot? Read Marvel's press releases for the film. I'll bet you even they call it a reboot.

Pretty much anything you read about it refers to it as a reboot. I don't really know how it could be considered otherwise.
