I purchased the iTunes download of this last night and yes, the iTunes version is in 1.78:1, not in 2.35:1. So yeah, it is cropped, but only on the left and right sides and not very much as the top and bottom were opened up significantly. See below.
2001 DVD Release: ![]() 2019 Apple iTunes: ![]() A few other things of note... The DVD offers a DD 5.1 track in addition to a feature-length audio commentary by Director Taylor Hackford. There are some non-English speaking parts as well. They're burned-in though, not forced subs sadly. The iTunes version offers DD 2.0 audio only, no commentary track, and no subtitles for the non-English speaking parts. In any event, I just thought I'd chime in for those who have dismissed the iTunes download sight unseen. Yes, I'd prefer the original aspect ratio, but this is more than watchable until an actual Blu-ray is released. Looks to be a clean transfer. Well, what little I've seen of it so far. Will be watching this tonight. Looking forward to it. Last edited by AmishParadise; 02-20-2023 at 03:13 PM. |
