I’ve also been hoping that Romero’s Bruiser would get a release along the likes of Shout doing Raimi’s A Simple Plan and The Gift. And with this WB/Paramount deal I hope Zemeckis’ What Lies Beneath gets a release. |

I really hope we Get Jason Goes to Hell uncut at some point. If there is a second Warner deal, this needs to happen.

And at this point, Scream should just nab Carpenter’s remaining titles. I’m sure Escape from LA, Dark Star and The Ward have a higher chance of release. But I’m sure Halloween or Christine will never get a SF re-release due to one being popular currently and the latter having a recent 4K release from Sony. Ghosts of Mars totally belongs on SF but I guess Mill Creek snagged it.

I mean, that’d be some serious triple dipping considering the initial releases followed by the steelbooks.

Dark Star (VCI) Halloween (Lionsgate) Ghosts of Mars (Mill Creek / Sony) Masters of Horror: Cigarette Burns (Lionsgate) Masters of Horror: Pro-Life (Lionsgate) The Ward (ARC Entertainment) I don't think Halloween is going to be as doable here as it was for the [then] complete Halloween box set, and I think that's going to be the biggest hurdle. For one, Lionsgate owns all of Anchor Bay's assets, but they're not Anchor Bay. I also don't think Malek Akkad / Trancas International has much incentive to help make it happen, like he did for the Halloween box set. He has a significant stake in all of the Halloween films, but he doesn't have any stake in any of John Carpenter's non-Halloween films. Whatever percentage he got for the Halloween box would be much smaller for a Carpenter box. |

I was hoping for another announcement today, but I'm wondering if they might be done for the month. Usually they go on a roll with Scream announcements, it would be strange for them to miss out a day (particularly in midweek) and then announce something after.

Four titles for March seems a bit low. I'm thinking we might get a few more, or maybe even something next Friday. I really wish Shout/Scream would just do it Criterion/Arrow style and just announce everything at once instead of weird scheduling.

I actually like the staggered announcements. It gives us something to talk about over a longer period of time rather than just dumping everything on us at once.

I'm going to blind-buy both. This is the type of stuff I like to find, and I'm grateful we have companies like Scream Factory, Arrow and Blue Underground, among others, still bringing us this stuff. I think it's fantastic that I've been watching horror most of my life and I'm still finding stuff to watch and enjoy. I can't tell you how many horror movies I've found thanks to these boutique labels...

Looks like 1973’s Frankenstein: The True Story is coming in March.
I’m almost 100% that’s what the title is. Their website glitches and I saw the cover and then the page refreshed and it was gone Last edited by dawnofthediscs; 12-05-2019 at 04:31 PM. |
