Sin City 2: Filming Likely Commencing this Year - Blu-ray Forum

This has been discussed on and off, but here's a minor update:

It seems a highly-anticipated sequel could finally get started this year. MTV Splash Page recently caught up with Rosario Dawson, who played Gail in Sin City and had some intriguing details on Sin City 2, namely that filming could happen this year.

"Yeah, I talked to Robert [Rodriguez] and Frank [Miller]," Dawson said. "They actually just finished the script for Sin City 2 a few months ago." She then added, "Hopefully that will happen. There's talks about it shooting sometime this year."

It was also noted that such stars that were killed off in the first film, like Clive Owen's Dwight, Brittany Murphy's Shellie, Jessica Alba's Nancy, Michael Clarke Duncan's Manute and Dawson's Gail would possibly return for the sequel.

Wasn't there talk of Johnny Depp being in 2? or maybe it was 3? Either way, the first movie had a great cast and the 2nd is sure shaping up that way too

As I recall the story for this one had to do with Dwight more than anyone and Eva Lord which at the time was rumored to be played by Rachel Weisz.

Johnny Depp was supposed to be in this one. Who knows about that?

The last time it was discussed Mickey Rourke didn't express the biggest enthusiasm if any for it. I mean I understand he's making a huge comeback, but he is Marv.

As Miller stated, Mickey Rourke is Marv.

It's not Sin City without Mickey Rourke IMO

considering how rodriguez works and his prior relationship with depp (once upon a time in mexico, and depp's interest in this movie) I'd be surprised to not see him.

with rodriguez, and a movie like this, depending on the scenes you have a lot of big actors show up for a day or two of work. like bruce willis in planet terror, he was never actually on set with the other actors. thus rodriguez can be extremely flexible and get big names.

I hope I enjoy this as much as I remember liking the first. I haven't seen it in ages.

It's about damn time they get this ball rolling. I was ready for a sequel after seeing the first 5 minutes of the first on its opening night in theatres!!!

That's the advantage in shooting Digital and taking a camera with you everywhere like Rodriguez does.

I am not sure if Depp will be in this. I think his schedule is already packed. Anyways, I never really cared for the first one, I thought the movie was boring and I fell asleep in the theater. I will pass on this.

LOL the Spirit will be a first day blind buy for me and this itself will be an opening day viewing if Weisz is in it.

I'm surprised by how many people "fall asleep" in the movie theater. I think most are exaggerating to prove how much they disliked the movie.

I thought only kids and the elderly feel asleep in movie theaters.

My mom actually passed out during Coraline though. She's never done that and we watch movies a lot together.

I did that watching Contact on DVD. I was a little sleepy so I watched it again on. Tried to. Guess the movie was the trigger. Like rain in the middle of the night.

We must make a distinction between falling asleep and passing out. LOL!!
I don't think falling asleep in your own home while watching a movie should be put in the same category either.
We also might need to put an asterisk next to the movies we're forced to see with our ladyfriends. These new slew of "chick" movies are utterly depressing and not worth the ink printed on your ticket, but Sin City doesn't seem to fit the conventional idea of what boring is. I shrug my shoulders with indifference.

No i went to sleep. I was bored to tears in the movie. As for the movie Contact that like Gattaca are one of the most boring movies ever.
