So outside of my complaining about the original trilogy theatrical cuts not being released, that box art is nice, but it looks like it opens in two or four separate pieces?

the uk set which is probably going to be the same release comes to around $199 shipped, while the best buy release is going to be $266.55 after taxes for in store pickup

There is nothing about this set that warrants $28 per movie. The BD trilogies and previous saga went on sale for half-off at times and so will this.

We've all bought these movies previously. Disney is going to have to do better.

This is very similar to a Game of Thrones BD situation. Ball is in their court to do better; it's not our obligation to support every release. There will be another new set yet again in 2021, guaranteed.

but isn't it good to know where they have it for cheaper, if it will in fact be the same packaging and same release

I’m wondering what is exclusive to Best Buy. Maybe the packaging?

I wouldn’t know. I’ll probably get this either way due to Christmas gift cards, tho I’d like to see the inside a little more tho

Yeah I'm wondering the same. I want a standard 4K boxset in the US just like the one UK is getting.

Not only because of that but because the discs will be wrecked and if they are so short supplied than peiole will be stuck with ruined discs

are we sure the one in the UK will be standard since the artwork is just a placeholder.
I am thinking that best buy just got the rights to release it in the US, just like amazon probably got the rights in the UK

Do we think the UK version of this will be the same as Best buy? for some reason I can see it being some sort of amaray or digipak. Would be nice if it's this set as it looks like a real presentation piece

So bummed out after seeing Rise of Skywalker yesterday.. just feel like the it solidified the sequel trilogy as pointless and really didn't add anything to the finality of the story that I wasn't already satisfied with in Return of the Jedi

Wouldn't be surprising as that happened with the complete saga set. As we in the states got a digibook style case which surprisingly is one of the better ones with how well my discs have held up over time. Though I don't see these having any special coating or not being shoved in so tight like most sleeved book style cases are. But I believe it was the UK that had a more standard style case and the disc art was a little goofy in my opinion though.

So maths time...

27 discs.

18 of those are the films, that leaves 9 left.

Take away the 3 bonus discs from the last ‘complete’ box set and we are left with 6.

Awakens and Jedi had their bonus content on a separate disc, down to 3. One imagines Skywalker will do the same, down to 2.

So that’s 2 discs of mystery Bonus content left, one of which will hopefully be Empire Of Dreams and if so, it will more then likely have it’s own disc. Down to 1.

So if this is just one giant re-package, we are looking at possibly 1 new Blu-ray Disc of extras. Unless they do a content reshuffle on the archive discs from the last set and give each film its own extras disc.

Isn’t it fun when you get asked for $250 but they won’t tell you what your money is actually paying for.

Actually winds up being 3 mystery disks after factoring in RoS bonus. (27-18-3-2-1=3) so that would be 2 after Empire of Dreams assuming that's a thing. If not, if we're talking 3 mystery disks, perhaps theatrical OT?

I know it's a pipe dream...

9 movie 4Ks, 9 movie BDs, 9 bonus features discs - one for each film. Not that hard to figure out. Disney authored completely new discs for the individual releases, seems pretty obvious they’ll author new bonus discs and spread the previously available content onto individual discs.

EDIT: Amazon UK listing notes the following
Quote:
Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Box Set - Limited Edition (27 discs) featuring all 9 Saga movies on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and Bonus discs (Blu-ray) for every movie in a special collector's set.

It's just a theory that's been floated around amongst many different people, some even within the industry.
What I don't understand with that theory is that how does producing a newly copyrighted version (which still has her name on it BTW) only shaft Marcia out of residuals but everyone else in the production gets to keep theirs? It might be more along the lines of what you suggest in the bold, that the overall profits from anything they made together were to be split and so making a new version gets around that.

Is this set going to be Steelbooks?

Also, no Rogue One or Solo in this box set?

I love the look of the set from the early images. It does beg the question why Rogue One is not included given the Death Star image but I can live with 9 Star Wars movies in 4K for £180. Especially in a nice collectors set.
