Because it can be. Some will gladly pay high prices to own it first or first day.

Though I suspect that the actual price will drop before release.

It's Universal so expect $27.96 at Wal-Mart and $27.99 everywhere else.

Ah, didn't realize it was a limited release. Last week I could at least search for the movie and get a result but today I got nothing, so it freaked me out a bit. I'm sure it will return.

Yep same here. Star War is dominating my local theater, it has nearly 20 showings. That's crazy.

Caught this today. Fantastic film. I was a tad leery that the continuous nature of the storytelling would feel gimmicky or limiting, but it was the exact opposite effect - I was totally engrossed. Roger Deakins photography and a dynamic sound mix should make for an outstanding UHD experience. I still have a few more 2019 films to see, but right now this is my top choice for the year. Fantastic in every way. This is a must-see film.

Well, there are some disturbing scenes, but not nearly as violent as SPR. Also, it's an amazing film. I mean, not only it is technically perfect, the story is captivating, keeps you at the edge of your seat all the time, and, what's more important, it has quite moments just right where you need them - rare quality these days. It's not your typical war movie, with pep talks and what not, it's more like The Revenant, set during WWI. And the sound is just stunning, so I do hope there will be Atmos on the UHD, because that's how you should watch this one! I can't recommend it enough, if you love the genre.

I unfortunately was sitting in the front row so I really couldn't hear the surround channels, so I'm looking forward to seeing/hearing this again but in my normal middle of the auditorium sitting - now the wait for AMC to add the Tyson's Corner Dolby Cinema tix up for purchase ( ... aaaaand bought)

My podcast hosted an advance screening of 1917 at our local AMC Tyson's Dolby Cinema last month, and the film literally blew me away. I can't wait to pick this up.

For those struggling to find showings, the wide release is January 10 in the US. I was pleased to see it will even be playing in an AMC Dolby Cinema near me.
