For those of you who say things like "The past must die." or "Stop being nostalgic."
Everyone is nostalgic about something. Including you. The Dark Knight is ten years old now. Feeling nostalgic yet about your precious "greatest superhero movie ever?" Or how about ten years from now, the minimalist masterpiece you call The Last Jedi will be a film that you will be waxing about poetically and feeling nostalgic about in no time.
If you think you aren't nostalgic about a film, tv show, song, or anything in general? You are fooling yourself and you are a liar. Eventually, everyone will be nostalgic about something. Including you.
So do everyone a favor and stop parroting this nonsense. It's a fallacy. It' s asinine and it makes absolutely no sense when you think about it. No one likes a film or a piece of media solely because of nostalgia. And if that plays a part in why they still enjoy a film, that isn't wrong.
Hold on to your "happy thoughts" don't let them float away when you are old and gray. Nostalgia has been and never will be a bad thing. It's a part of all of us. It's about time we embraced it in all of its forms, both good and bad instead of locking it away inside of us and throwing away the key.

You can be nostalgic for some things and feel like you've outgrown other things. That guy you quoted liked The Lion King when he was 8 years old. That doesn't necessarily mean he now thinks it's a terrible movie just that it doesn't have the same hold on him like it did when he was a child.
