They deserve better but until they make football important again I’ll enjoy them being irreverent. Maybe he can get Uncle Luke involved in the program again. I think the Diaz hire was always more about connections, mostly political (his dad a former Miami Mayor), then anything else. They finished 6-7 this season. Last season they finished 27th in recruiting class, just 17th for 2020, with zero 5-star recruits since 2018 - all terrible by Canes standards. Hard to imagine Diaz as being the right guy for the job.

Crazy results from the 2019 Florida High School Football Championships. Here are the championship teams by division. Of the 8 state championship teams seven are from the greater Miami metro area. The only exception was in 1A (smallest division of high schools), which has no schools in southeast Florida. Crazy considering other regions - central Florida, Tampa, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, etc. also produce an amazing wealth of NCAA football and NFL talent.

This is why it's so ridiculously easy for a program like the U, or other universities in Florida to recruit. You can literally put together a top-10 or 15 recruiting class from south Florida alone.

Miami Northwestern has produced dozens of NFL players, includingTeddy Bridgewater, Antonio Bryant, Amari Cooper, Brett Perriman, and Lavonte David. St. Thomas Aquinas has 14 former players in the NFL.

It wasn’t that long ago you couldn’t go into FL and get top talent. That’s not the case anymore. Good for everyone else but bad for in state schools that are struggling. Which seems to be all of them. The talent in the state is also why I think Jeff Scott will be great at South Florida. I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t win there.
