Lost in translation is a masterpiece imo its my favorite Bill Murray, ScarJo and Sofia Coppola movie. Well maybe Under the skin might be my favorite ScarJo movie I don't know

I thought it was OK. Not bad but definitely not as good as people say it is.

There are certain people that critics seem to really prop up. It is very unfortunate agendas take precedent over honest opinions.

I enjoy “fan-service” or nostalgic elements they put in even if it has zero reason to be in there from a storytelling perspective. Also they should keep making Star Wars movies and tv shows (live action). The more the merrier. There’s a void in a year for me when no Star Wars and no Star Trek movies are due to be released. If they can do a Fast and Furious movie every year, they can do a Star Wars movie every year. And every movie should have the opening crawl. Keep making them and churning them out.

I think I probably said that somewhere on the site before, but I absolutely agree. And I'm certain others have said it too, although a big majority here praises his films a lot.

I agree but many have said it for quite a while. He could film a puppy drowning and folk would circle jerk over it.

I think it's a bit like washed up rockers, where new mediocre albums from acts like U2, Pearl Jam, Springsteen, or Radiohead gets praised as something amazing upon release, based more on how good people want it to be rather than how good it really is.

ugh.

Regarding the post about old rockers, I wouldn't call radiohead washed up though, especially not in their solo work/film scoring. Thom Yorke's solo album was awesome in 2019.

As much as I disliked Death Proof, I would rather watch it instead of any Kubrick film 10 out of 10 times.

I like Death Proof. But yeah, a lot of the characters just talk a lot of BS.

The Irishman is the best movie of the year to fall asleep to. I don't even care to go back and watch what I missed. Movie is the definition of overrated.

All the Oscar buzz surrounding Scarlett Johansson is for Marriage Story, but it really should be for Jojo Rabbit where she gives, not only the better performance than MS and the best performance of the film, but maybe the best performance of her entire career.

Since this is the new Oscar thread i think we are all forgetting about the movie Ordinary Love that comes out in February. Liam and Lesley should steal the oscars and thats it. And dont forgett Renée!!! I almost felt like she did that plastic surgery just to tackle Judy Graland, lets see...

TBH

Endgame > Marriage Story

And Endgame is pretty weak on my book!!!

It’s one thing to have an unpopular opinion. It’s entirely another thing to imply that those that express the opposing opinion don’t genuinely appreciate the films they claim to.

How can you forget something before it comes out? It’s not up for any awards because it’s released in a month. Has it been at any festivals?

It was in the Toronto International Festival and it was released in Europe (mostly UK) in December.

Im sure it will be nominated for several BAFTAS this Tuesday.
