I think I bought the DVD from Umbrella a year or so ago figuring this would never get a blu release, but here we go!
Never did watch the DVD but definitely will pick this up. I don't know how licencing works but it'd be great to have some of the Saturday Night Live skits included as extras... |

The grain will be baked into the master. 86 minutes is hardly pushing the limits, I've seen films over 2 hours squeezed onto BD-25.

Assassination of Jessie James and Alexander come to mind with Warner putting hrs of content onto BD-25. Disney putting endgame on a BD-66 was also pushing it

The Departed is another one. Some versions have PCM and those are 50s, but the ones with lossy-only and the UK one with DTS-HD are all 25s, which is just crazy. On the other hand, discs like that had the advantage of having encoding done by top-tier compressionists, a luxury less likely to be available for Umbrella's budget-line catalog titles.

Does anyone elses copy of Coneheads freeze at the end of the credits. On my copy after the credits finish the screen goes black and freezes. It doesn't go to a disc menu or restart the movie it just freezes on a black screen. Only way to get it off is to actually press the stop button on remote to cut disc play off.

No. Umbrella have become adept at releasing the epitome of the barebones release. |
