I try my damndest not to pass gas in public places where there are other people, which is why if I have to, I go to a secluded spot and take care of business there. But I've come thisclose to doing it non-voluntarily in front of co-workers and if that ever happens I won't know where to hide my face. Which is why I can't fathom how people can freely fart around others and not feel an ounce of embarrassment.

It’s possible someone edited one of the listings, like a double pack that originally was listed as 1 movie, now is listed as 2?

That's exactly what I thought as well. Possibly the Ninja double feature I have. It has two movies on one disc and originally only counted as one Blu-ray. I'm guessing that was probably it.

I picked up some Yu-Gi-Oh! cards while at Target this morning. I've tried to buy less trading cards over the years because I never pull anything good and it ends up being a waste of money. I spent $30 on a few packs and pulled over $60 dollars worth of good cards, which is very rare for me. I got the one card that I really wanted from the set too, "The Dark Magicians".

Some recent thoughts;

I think if I had heard of Mazzy Star and it's lead singer, Hope Sandoval, when I was younger, I would have had a big crush on her.

I had no idea that Jay-Z's net worth was at a billion I also had no idea that, according to wikipedia for the Marcy projects that Jay grew up in, Tracy Morgan and Mos Def also grew up there.

And last, I was watching this video for this M.I.A. song I had never heard. The first comment on the video is "this video makes me want to rob my own house"

My landlord is taking me to court for non-payment. The summons is dated 12/27, about a week before my check turned up applied to someone's else's account. The landlord acknowledged the error and apologized but I still have this court date hanging over my head. There are references to dispossession and eviction but none of the boxes indicating they want to throw me out were ticked so I should be in the clear, right? This is the last thing I needed right now. I've been a model tenant for 4 years, never missing a rent payment. So bummed right now.

Counter sue them. You have rights as a renter. Lots of rights.

It may not be that kind of situation. Like I said, the summons was dated about a week before the error was discovered, and the document doesn't specifically say I'm being evicted, just that I'm to appear in court for non-payment. This is an open and shut case but I'm considering hiring a lawyer if only so I can establish a relationship and retain them for future issues. I mean, taking me to court because they thought I was late ONE month?

pay the attorney a retainer....just in case. then call the landlord and try to work out something with them so they'll drop the case. that way, you won't have to go to court and won't have to worry about any court costs (which you might be on the hook for if the judge decides in the landlord's favor).

and if you get it worked out without having to go to court, you'll still have the attorney on a retainer for anything in the future.

and good luck...

Contact your landlord and ask if they're going to file a motion to dismiss the case. If not, you can file a motion to dismiss.

Appreciate the advice, guys

This is the first time I've had to deal with being taken to court so I have no idea what to expect. First, what's a retainer? I'd like to consult a lawyer for advice without having to pay an exorbitant amount of money but this being an open and shut case I'm picturing this being a piece of cake with the judge automatically dismissing the case. But if the landlord has ulterior motives (like wanting me out), I think I'm going to want an attorney.

Also, contacting the landlord isn't easy in my case. It's like trying to call the White House direct to talk to the President. No one ever answers the phone in the Management office. I suspect it's not even an office lol. If these were reasonable and approachable landlords I would definitely try to get in touch to work it out but I think even if I reach them, they'll be confrontational or dismissive. I'll let the system take care of it. I'll show up in court like a good citizen and show them I have nothing to hide.

rdodolak: I can file a motion myself for dismissal? Do I have to do this before the court date?

a retainer is money you give to an attorney, in advance, for services that will be rendered.
