I suppose they could do Richard Franklin and/or John Levene, although they don't seem to be doing them for every volume. I don't think there was one on seasons 10 or 18. Thinking about it, if they had done a Terrance Dicks one I suppose it would've been on season 10.

Yes, good point - although 10 had that wonderful Pertwee doc with Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss and Sean Pertwee. I'd love to see more of that.

I know it's quite morbid to think about but it is very likely that they have been banking extras with some of the older talking heads.

I'm also supposing that the re-issued Season 12 will be a summer release now

I'm fine with this as long as they do an In Conversation with Alpha Centauri for the Season 9 boxset.

That would be lovely although it wouldn't incorporate the same highly amusing correlation between interviewer and interviewee (Sweet-Kandy-ho ho flippin' ho) unless Matthew has hidden hermaphroditic hexapodic habits h'unseen h'up to now.

Matthew Sweet is one of those guys like Marcus Hearn who seems to be an authority on everything in UK film and TV. I love hearing him talk Who.

LTN and IAHHM are racist though. They are not poking fun at racists like ISAIH and the writing is quite different.

Talon's reflects the Victorian attitudes and suspicion towards immigrant communities at the time of the Ripper murders which it seems to be set just after time wise.

I get the narrative that Alf Garnett and his views are shown to be obscene and hence the object of ridicule, however, my vague memories of LTN (haven't seen for over 30 years) are that Jack Smedley's character was also the subject ridicule and therefore I have seldom distinguished the two shows.

I am no advocate of bringing LTN back to TV screens, however, I find it strange how a show like On The Buses continues to be repeated when it is cringeworthy how it demeans women in almost every episode, apparently sexism gets a free pass.

Anyhoo, I have no particular issue with Talon's, showing prejudice in context is not the same as supporting or promoting prejudice.

If you want to seek LTN out there are episodes on YT and its just as cringeworthy as OTB, I tried watching and gave up after 20 minutes.

Quite, Talons its meant to be historically accurate for the most part and you certainly get the impression that it is.

I might very well seek out an episode and of course I should have said Jack Smethurst not Jack Smedley; I shall not however be seeking out Johnny Speight's Curry and Chips.

Curry and Chips. Deliberately absurd and provocative, written by the more often than not pretty good to great Johnny Speight with a decent cast. Yet something goes horribly wrong in the execution. Not that it's utterly terrible, it's often funny, the show's problem is that unlike say Till Death Do We Part the bigoted attitudes of certain characters are not really challenged to a large enough extent by others. As such despite Speight's intentions the show often comes across as racist.

And even to an un-PC fella like myself calling one of the lead characters
[Show spoiler]Paki Paddy
(let's see if the swearbots censor that) is just crude and obnoxious when there's no need.

Just in regards to your tag line. Moffat said it first "the witches familiar"
Dalek: You are a time Lord?
Missy: Time lady some of us can afford the upgrade.

Just a bit context for you there

Anyways back to Season 14

Ding, ding, ding! Winner! The release schedule - at least back in the DVD days - was a combination of things, including availability of talent for extras. The Arc of Infinity DVD was pushed back 6 months because Collin (or was it Peter - one of the two) was busy and couldn't come do a commentary - and they did not want to pass up an opportunity to have two Doctors on one track, so they held off until the other was available.

That apparently was one of Spike Milligan's nicknames because despite having an English mother he was born in India and had an Irish father. In 1962 because of a change in the law and despite serving in the British Army he lost his right to be a British citizen and was refused UK citizenship* - he was apparently told to apply for Indian or Pakistani citizenship instead - but got Irish citizenship instead because, he said, they told him "We'll take anybody." But that's the kind of backstory lost in the mists of time and doesn't help with the brownface issue.

* It's been claimed since his death he was turned down not on 'racial' grounds or for his refusal to swear allegiance to the crown but because of his history of extremely violent mental heath issues.

Well, historically accurate as filtered through Robert Holmes' memories and parody of Fu Manchu films and Terror Of The Tongs.

Think more probably through Contemporary 19th century novelists. Although again not entirely 100% accurate would certainly be more reliable than FMC and TOTT. The Deerstalker being a nod to that.

Tom Baker's looking quite frail in the trailer (compared with previous appearances). Mind you, he's a good age.
