Sooner rather than later I'll probably find out, unfortunately.

My seiki seems to be sadly winding down. No longer reads DVDs and needs to be powered off and on when switching BDs otherwise gives an unknown disc error.

It's the same thing for me. I can't read DVDs anymore and I also get the unknown disc error often. Most of the time it works if I just eject the disc and insert it again. But some discs just won't work at all.
