Prometheus Review Thread (Spoilers)

Rewatching this for the first time since I saw it in theaters.

Shaw and Holloway are so ****ing annoying that I had to come here and post about it. They're essentially on a personal adventure/crusade at the expense of safety of the rest of the crew.

Prometheus is an excellent film, in 4k even better. Scott does know how to create amazing environments, planets etc. Hoping he comes back for the final one, i want to see more stuff that made Prometheus great.

I'd recommend watching the 2hr 40 minute Paradise fan edit of this and Covenant. It tells a parallel narrative that emphasizes the creator creation aspect of both films. It cuts down on the filler and odd impressions including this aspect. In that cut, it comes across more as Weyland's personal crusade than Shaw and Holloway's by how much they trim out from Prometheus and add back via cut scenes. Wasn't keen on fan edits, though this one feels like a theatrical film with finished effects, new music cues, and title cards when going back and forth in time since the editor works in the industry. Like I mentioned in other posts I feel this is the superior cut to Prometheus and Covenant.

I so want an extended cut of this, it's a rather crappy irony that Sir Ridley has done or has sanctioned longer versions of so many of his other movies but not this one. Gah.

As much as I admire Prometheus as is, I'd pre-order an extended cut in the blink of an eye. I actually hold out hope for that - so much so that I still haven't seen the deleted scenes available in the Blu-ray.

A "director's cut" of Covenant wouldn't hurt, either.

If even something as widely embraced from the get-go like The Martian got an extended cut, I don't see why Fox missed the opportunity to milk the prequels some more by not providing alternate cuts. It feels like half of Scott's filmography has them.

Yep, I really want the Shaw scenes added back.

Adding this in alone would instantly improve the film an enormous amount.
