Isn't that on stage?

She appeared in multiple stage productions, but a film adaptation is supposedly in the works. It’s with Paramount.

I am wondering about that, I feel like at least movies need to be opening at a steady pace by start of Fall to have any kind of justifiable awards line up. Frankly if this goes on longer than that (and we really need to hope it doesn’t, how many would have died and what state would the global economy be in if things aren’t hugely improved almost six months for now), they may just consider combining this year’s and next year’s Oscar eligibility. Next year would also be thin considering all the productions which are pausing.

Also, while I absolutely support the idea of the Oscars being for theatrical releases, I feel like the academy should grant a waiver for movies which open on VOD during the period theaters are closed, due to the extraordinary circumstances.

As I thought they should given the circumstances (might be the only way they will have enough films in competition to have any kind of respectable line up, and as this goes on and big studio releases get backlogged, more indies are going to want to become available to people), the academy is considering changing the qualification rules for this year to allow digital only releases to compete.

The streaming qualification (though I still feel like if some kind of release normalcy hasn’t returned by the fall that the Oscars may be canceled for this year and go into a 2020-2021 eligibility period) and combination of sound categories was expected, but still interesting to have them confirmed.

Do think it is kinda weird that sequels will now have a significantly higher requirement of original music to qualify in the score category, I wonder if the last two Star Wars films would’ve qualified under the 80% rule for instance (Force Awakens seemed to have more new themes than they did).
