I'd advise against that. It's already a top contender for the worst movie of the year. There is nothing redeemable about this one at all. If you must see it, rent it first.

We’re barely 2 months into 2020.

I'm afraid this will probably stick as worst horror film of 2020.

I might still buy this eventually for the collection, but it would have to be at a VERY cheap price. I'd say $5.

What I hated about the trailers was that they constantly faked you out by making you think that the ghost seen throughout the film was Kayako. Talk about false advertisement.

I'll be passing on this one. (The same with 2019's Black Christmas. ) I was underwhelmed by the film. It's amazing how much scarier the 2004 film was/is and it's rated PG-13 whereas the new film is rated R. The Grudge 2 (2006) and The Grudge 3 (2009) are much better films than The Grudge (2020).

all the ghost scenes in the trailer (girl crawling on the wall, hair coming out of the sink, "Kayako" crawling under the bed) weren't in the movie. So stupid.

To be fair, it’s rather common that some scenes in the trailer don’t make the final cut. Hopefully they’re in the deleted scenes though.

I didn't like the original and besides Sarah Michelle Gellar is a terrible actress. Generally, ghost stories are boring and they're not scary.

It's because slimdude likes to thread crap. Personally, I have no interest in the Marvel superhero films so it would be like me posting in those threads saying how much I think Spider-Man or The Hulk sucks (I don't think that, just not interested). He said, "Generally, ghost stories are boring and they're not scary" and "Sarah Michelle Gellar is a terrible actress." Okay, so why would you watch The Grudge to begin with?

He likes to thread crap.

The good thing about the The Grudge 2020 is that I thought it would have motivated Sony to release The Grudge 2 on Blu. The bad thing is that they didn't

Was expecting that to happen as well. I have the first film from Sony and they released 3 in the UK region free Blu-ray. Would have liked to have seen a boxset release.

A similar thing happened with Paramount. They never released The Ring 2 on Blu-ray or even brought the first film back in print (now they released a disgusting BD-R version of The Ring) in anticipation for Rings. What softened the blow was that Rings digital copy included the first two films digitally too, if nothing else.

Unfortunately, not only did Sony not release 2 and 3 on Blu-ray but it doesn’t even look like the new film will include their digital copies either.
