Question What's your screen size and viewing distance ?

Two things many seem to overlook, and I believe should be stated in reviews as well, are the screen size and viewing distance.

I always try to make the most of my setup, and my viewing distance with my Pioneer Kuro LX5090 (50') was 5-6.5 feet (1.5-2m) depending on the quality of the BD, and whether it was 1:78 or with black bars at the top and bottom.
And yes, I also had different audio settings for each viewing distance.

Now, with my new LG C97LA (65') UHD OLED TV it's about 5.8ft (1.7m), which is even closer than the recommended cinema viewing distance, and I might do the reommended distance, as I see every single flaw in my once beloved BDs (macroblocking), but it's great for UHD BDs.

To me it's silly to think that there are so many people that have 65' UHD TVs yet sit 15ft (4.8m) away from it.

What's your screen size and viewing distance in both feet and metres?

I followed this very sensible chart:

From what I've just read, the easiest way to get an idea of how far to sit away from your TV is a little math. Measure the diagonal of you screen. If you have a 1080p TV multiply that number by 1.5 - 3. Anywhere in that area is good. If it's 4K then multiply it by 1 - 1.5 and that's your number. Those calculations are in inches. In reality, personal preference is just as important. Also important is what you plan on using it to watch. All of those things can be factored in as well. If it looks good to you...it is good.

I only have a 50 inch 4k TV - but it's a narrow room.

I sit around 5 feet from it, and it's noticeable that when I put my head about a foot closer it feels much much more comfortable for my eyes and the detail is optimum. Any closer than that - and it feels like I have to move my head all the time to fit the motion. So that's a clue that I need a bigger TV. Something that the wife won't be pleased to hear.

Unfortunately I can't move my rears to a comfortable listening position when I'm at that optimum distance.

I have a 127" scope screen (2.40:1) so when I zoom for 16:9 it's 100"
(I use a native 4K projector: Sony VW285ES)

My first (main row) of seats is 12' and my second row is about 14'.

I didn't plan it this way when I built the room... I was using a 110" 16:9 screen but someone gave away this nice scope screen and it fit in my existing space.

I have a 115" scope (2.35.1) screen as well with 4K resolution.....and I sit 10' feet in the first row...14' feet in the 2nd row! And by NO MEANS do i feel it's too close! It's perfectly clear and takes up my whole viewing area just like a real theater!!

75" and 9'4" from the screen. I find 8' to be really immersive, but I have to sit on the floor in a bean bag chair for that one

It's amazing how different our setups are. So much variety.

That seems a bit far for such a small screen. 1080p or 4K?

I have an 85" 4K Sony TV in my living room and I sit about 9.5 feet away from it. I love this TV and it almost fills my field of vision at this distance.

I have a 60" 4K 3D LG TV in my office and I sit about 7 feet away from it. It's a good TV; I keep it for the 3D capability.

my display? (LG OLED 55")

my viewing distance? (13')

my next display (soon)? (LG OLED 48")

my display size preference? (43")

note - - my display resolution preference is an 8K at 43"/48"

92" 1.78 screen with Sony 2K projection system. I sit 14 feet away. While I'd prefer to just watch HD content, the reality is that I still own more SD content (only format available) than HD content. I find 14 feet to be a happy middle point.

Wow. That's really far. Do you watch a lot of TV, or mostly BD/UHD?
